Trying something new

Stacy has been doing well for the last week or so. She continues to have roughly one jerk seizure a day, but that’s it.

She has decided to try experimenting with a reduced glutimate (GARD and MSGMyth) diet. She started yesterday and she said it felt great.

If her jerk seizures stop and she does not have any further seizure activity for a week or two, she is going to try ramping down her Dilantin to see if the diet is sufficient to maintain seizure control. We’ll keep you posted.

Settling down

Stacy’s ear problems went away and she is back to “normal” – more or less. For the last week, she has had 1-2 jerks a day (mostly in the morning and/or at night, but occassionally in the middle of the day).

We are trying to establish a better night time routine for getting to sleep regularly at an early hour but it doesn’t always work out. She is still taking 300mg of Dilatin per day.

She just started school again (just 1 class), so we shall see how that affects her (stress over grades/tests, unavoidable late night once a week on school night, etc.).
