Question Cna someone please help me with my problem.

Hello, this is the first time I ever posted on any kind of forum. I dont really want to or think I need to seek medical attention, so I thought maybe I could get some advice from a person on here. I dont even know if my 'attacks' (which is the word I am oging to use to describe what is going on) are any kind of siezure, but it seems to me it might be some sort of epilepsy.

anyway, long story short, since i was little, on and off, I have had episode where I begin hallucinating sounds in a strange way. Things quickly begin to sounds like there too fast. People talking sounds abnormally quick, and noise of any kind agitates me greatly. Everything around me begins to sound threatening likes it going a million miles per hour and at the point of exploding, even the creaking of my neck when I pivot my head. A better description might be blood rushing through my ears. It drives me nuts and it makes it difficult to reason. I usually end up staring at a clock to calm myself down or I go to the bathroom and douse my head in cold water. I do this because these 'attacks' began happening after I became really sick once and had an extremely high fever, causing me to become delusional for a period.

Even when I'm sick now they don't necessarily happen, just seems to happen at any given time, more frequent now, occurring every couple weeks or so. The 'attacks' don't last long, but sometimes they can last up to ten or 15 minutes. The reason I am writing this is because I just had one and I'm kind of sick of not having any answers or preventative actions. The worst part is I don't feel like telling any one I know because it sounds crazy. What should I do? Does any one know where they could refer me to find out what might be going on? I had an EEG when I was young, but it didn't seem to find anything. Any information would be very helpful thanks.

Hi amdtrt1, welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you need to see either a neurologist or an ENT (Ear-Nose-Throat specialist).

Auditory hallucinations could be simple partial seizures.

Many people develop seizure disorders after experiencing a high fever. An MRI might be able to determine if there is any scarring in the brain as a result of the fever.

An EEG recording when you experience the hallucinations would probably be your best bet for determining if the episode is a seizure or not.

Dear amdtrt1,
Your symptoms need a workup . I agree with Bernard. get to an ENT and to a neurologist. It could also be a psychiatric problem if you have experienced a severe trauma in the past. You will definitely need an MRI ( preferably with gadolinium contrast) and EEG. Once those come back , you will also need some blood work to rule out other causes of your attacks . Get yourself checked up - it's important.

Get well soon

Hi amdtrt1! Welcome to CWE. Like everyone else, I think you need to go to the doctor. Go see a neurologist as well as an ENT. Also, keep a log of how many times these "spells" happen, how long they last, and how often. Try keeping a log of how much sleep you get each night, what you eat and drink and when and how much. You might find that it's something you're doing or consuming that's triggering the spells. The log will give your doctor more information.
