Hi :) am new to this and have never done anything like this :L over the past 2 years i have been suffering from severe headaches, i was referred to a specialist who sent me for an mri scan which came back saying the pituitary was slightly enlarged but they put it down to a hormone imbalance and said they didn't know what was causing the headaches.recently i have been getting these moments where i go completely blank, it starts of and my eye sight start to go funny like someone has been shining a bright light in my eyes and i get a funny feeling in my stomach, this last for a couple of minutes and then i don't remember anything else. people who have seen me said i wander around aimlessly, fiddle with my hands, chew with my mouth and mumble, this lasts for around 30 seconds to a minute and then i start to become more aware and after about 20-30 can answer questions and everything properly (sooner if i go to sleep) but can feel slow and behind for the rest of the day. I have a terrible memory and can't even remember my holiday from a few months ago, could this be complex partial, i thought i was going mad and don't see my mum very often due to college - should i go to the doctors? What will the do ? Has anybody else had anything like this thankyou xx

With this hormone imbalance, did they say what hormone specifically? It could be a prolactin imbalance, the most common cause of a pituitary tumor. Did they send you to an endocrinologist to check out the hormonal imbalance also? Sometimes hormonal imbalances can bring on seizures, and by what you described, it does sound like a CP seizures.

I had a prolactin imbalance once and they thought I had a pituitary tumor, but it turned out ok. I still have E tho. I suggest going to an endocrinologist to have your hormones checked out and have him/her refer you to a neurologist.

They didn't really say a lot from what i can remember, my memory is terrible but i remember being confused because i didn't quite understand what they were telling me. would you recommend going back to the doctors? I didn't know whether i was going mad :L thankyou xxx

l0vegokwann

I do not think you are going mad, just concerned and yes I would recommend you go back and see the doctors, get them to talk to you so you can understand. There is no point having a doctor and not been able to talk to them, so find out all you can first.

Thankyou i will try to make an appointment :) hopefully i will have a diagnosis soon then whatever is happening can stop, i didn't know what to say to my teachers when they asked why i did so badly in my test but i didn't even remember doing it so just said i hadn't revised because they would think i was crazy if i told them the truth :-( xxx

I hope you find out what is up as well. Its not easy knowing what to say at times, the important thing is you take care of yourself first. Everything will fall into place after that.

Hi l0vegokwann, welcome to CWE!

The part where you "wander around aimlessly, fiddle with my hands, chew with my mouth and mumble" definitely sounds like a complex partial seizure. I agree that you should get checked out by a neurologist.

Best,
Nakamova

Thankyou everyone, i was feeling quiet lost at the beginning of the day but after everything you've said i feel a lot better. Thankyou so much :) xxx

Wander around aimlessly, fiddle with my hands, chew with my mouth and mumble are alot of things that I do during a seizure. Usually after a seizure I'll have a horrible headache. I'll fall asleep shortly after the seizure and sleep almost the whole day after one too.

If your memory is as bad as mine you want to make sure you write down your questions that you want to ask the dr and write down the answers that the dr tells you and anything else that he might say. If I don't do this I get it all confused, don't get things right and end up forgetting most of it. I have someone come with me to the dr visit, either my mom or husband, this way there is someone there who can remember things and can help me understand things that I've written down incase I don't understand it myself.

You might also want to keep a seizure diary. Keep track of when the seizures (if that is what they are) happen, what you do during them and how long they last.

That's a good idea, i tried to keep a diary thing a while ago but kept forgetting about it :- and i ave te same thing with the headaches, then i fall asleep normally and am very difficult to wake up xxx\

i suffer with complex partial seizures and your symptoms sound similar to mine. i also get a strange feeling in my stomach, my face goes totally blank and i cant always remember what has gone on, all this can happen in less than one minute

i was first sent to hospital because i passed out at work, then after i had my eeg test i was told i have complex epilepsy and that the funny spells i had previously were complex partial seizures
