Thank you for your quick reply. My husband is not on any medication at the moment till he has his brain scan this thurs and see whats going on. I did ring this morning but like usual unable to get through to anyone but have left a message with secretary.

Hi Penny! Hope your hubby is doing ok. Sounds as though his seizures are either getting worse....or he has more than one kind of seizure. Which is quite possible. Hopefully, you've heard back from the doctor. Especially with the type of seizure your now describing, I would hope that maybe they could give you a medicine to stop the seizure. Keep us informed. And say hi to your hubby for us.

Welcome to CWE and from your postings, it all
sounds to me as simple partials. Hopefully with
the neurologist, things will all be sorted out and
worked out, once the medication(s) is adjusted
and seizures are under control, and unfortunately
this takes time and patience and is not an over-
night or one-week involvement to resolution.

But from the way you're posting, progress is all
being made and is being forthcoming which is good.
Just continue to keep a dairy or journal and monitor
it down, so when you see the neurologist, you can
present him/her the log, and they can review it.
Some people tend to have more seizures during certain
times of the day or specific times or in what they do
or are doing.

Blackstamp- As usual Brain is right on. The one thing I learned when I was diagnosed at age 37 is that things change and tests may not show what is going on at first. I have had 2 seizure monitoring stays and enough mri,pet scans, and eeg's to the point of 'glowing'. It wasn't till this last battery of tests that lo and behold we had stuff on all three. Oddly enough I have problems in both the right and left temporal lobes....but I'm still standin However this shakes out-this is the best place for help and hope and no one blasts ya for typos and there are no math questions except maybe how many meds have you been on.

Thank you I have been overwhelmed with the support on here and the lovely messages. I just did not know where to turn and found you all its been great. This is might seem like a silly question but one I need to ask when you all keep referring to simple partial seizures because the word simple is in the title does that mean they are the easiest to control? Sorry if I offend anyone by saying this but just wanted to know because there are so many different seizures and just trying to understand the different ones.#

No question is a silly question..I am still learning and it can all be overwhelming and confusing with all the terms. It wasand still is for me. I will let the others explain the simple..I am not fully checked out. : ) Best wishes!

Hi Penny.

Here is my understanding:

Simple Partial Seizures - You don't lose consciousness and remain aware during the seizure.

Complex Partial Seizures - Loss of awareness. You might have uncontrolled motions or vocalizations - like picking at clothes, arm motions, saying things that don't make sense. You generally don't remember it happening afterwards.

I believe that the difference is the degree to which the seizure has spread in the brain.

I forgot to mention that it was also really helpful to me to get some new books that are current. They have the latest meds/treatments etc. I also found some great new ones written by Drs./specialists on ebay. They helped me understand all the different kinds of seizures and answered alot of questions. Also, they got me to ask my Drs. certain questions I may not have thought of.

Sorry to keep troubling you all but just had phone call from hospital and husband has got to have chest x ray tomo. Can someone tell me what that has to do with epilepsy and why that has been booked? I am baffled.

I can only think that maybe they are ruling out something else. Just a starting point to rule out other things. ie chest related. I have not heard of anything else..

I agree w/ Georgiagirl. They're most likely ruling out other things. Nothing to worry about. Just the docs being thorough.

Heart related issues can cause seizures. Lack of blood oxygen to the brain can be the cause.

You have a good doctor that is looking at all angles, rather than just reaching for the blue pill sample pack.

Thats good to hear that the neurologist is being thorough in ruling out any other causes like the heart etc. Makes it seems more clear now why this x ray is being done. I know I keep saying thank you but your messages have been so helpful and I cannot thank you all enough and its great that this forum is here and people can gain advice, support and knowledge. Scan on thursday so will be back to update you all when we have some more idea of what is going on. I am fully prepared to not receive any answers and any causes because I have been told on here that majority of the time scans etc come back clear but at least I am prepared for that now after being on this forum.

Penny:

Chest X-Rays is to rule out any Cardio-Pulmonary Issues that
may cause blood circulation / blockages that may be an
issue(s) that 'could be' hindering circulation to your brain.
As well as your heart, if your heart is enlarged, it is not
pumping properly and a cardiac issue, which in turn meaning
that blood circulation is not circulating properly in your body
and it in turn means you're not getting blood/oxygen in your
brain ... therefore - it can result ---> seizures!

I have a Cardiologist and Neurologist; so it's not unusual.
