Is this epilepsy???

Hi and thanks for reading..

I have started to have symptoms like im living a dream..kind of...I see haloes and after-imaging. My eyes are sore and sometimes they flisker when i try and sleep. I forget alot.. like right now when im trying to descride all my symtoms. I get wierd sensations sometimes ill feel amazing!! honestly its unreal i feel like theres nothing can get me down then in one click im back into a dreamy sort of way. The good thing is i can easily get myself hyped up like this if i put my mind to it. Sometimes i get little smells and tastes which are unusual. My eyes ache and its sometimes hard to read things. But what i find wierd is my pupils are unsually dilated! all the time. In the sun they will go really small. I am more sensitive to light. I also stare at things!! This feeling comes over me when it hapens. Also about three times overall i have felt a little shock (like and electric shock) come over me and made me feel all tingly!

You think this could turn into proper fits?? I would hate to loose cotroll over my body it would be as scary for me as atually dieing!

Please any feedback atall would be really helpful! I have been having a few panic attacks tonight as im scared it might be epilepsy im really scared how soon should i get checked out. Should i got tonight?? Only place open is the hospital

thank you

I think I would go get it checked out. If this is new to you and you have never been under a doctors care I would go ASAP.

Come back and let us know how you are doing.

Joon!

I moved your thread over here so
everyone can welcome you to CWE!
And to be able to assist you.

And indeed Robin is correct, the first
step to head is to the Hospital ...
especially if you've never been to a
Neurologist, never been diagnosed,
never went through any of this before.
You really need to be checked out and
thoroughly!

(((((( hugs ))))))))

Hi Joon, welcome to the forum.

It's quite possible that you are experiencing simple partial seizures. You need to have some tests done by a neurologist (EEGs) to see if they can confirm epileptiform brain activity when these experiences are happening to be sure.

If it is seizure activity, then yes, left uncontrolled, the seizure activity could generalize into larger seizures (like tonic clonics/grand mals).

Hi all!

Thanks for the warm welcoming and i am sorry for not introducing myself properly. I was quite worried thats how i havent indroduced myself. You all seem very kind

My name is Jon, im from Scotland. 17 years old with my birthday comeing up in a few weeks time Since new year i have started the symptoms i listed above.

Anyhow i went to the doctors and he did not refer me. He said that i would have proper seizures where id not no what i was doing... Moreover he said it woulnd't be me that notices what is wrong, it would be someone else thats observing me.

I have been fighting some sort of infection recently, even though i have had these symtoms for a couple of months. He belives teenage life along with my infections is the cause of my symptoms. He said the little shocks that i have been getting (these have happend three times where i stare at a spot and its really hard to look away then this feeling comes over me makes me all tingly and fels a bit like a shock before i manage to snap myself out of it, only lasting a few seconds) are just me getting myself worried and scared.

Ive deffantly not felt myself for a long time I get alot of mood swings, sometimes i wont bother about what i have i accept th fact that im going to live with these symptoms all my life, other times i feel like im having the time of my life (sort of feel like am on some sort of drug:S) and other times im short temperd or confused. I really want to be my old steady self again.

Thanks for reading. I really aprciate your feedback.

Jon:

Was there been a Meningitis outbreak
in your area recently or not that long
ago? I could have sworn I read that
or heard that on the news or was that
the bird flu thingie? You may have been
infected where it had infected your brain.

There are several places you can go for
assistance seeing that you're in the
United Kingdom...

Here are 2 places that will be of
great assistance:

National Society for Epilepsy Organization - United Kingdom

Epilepsy Action - United Kingdom

You need to get another doctor (second opinion). What he said would be true if you were having complex partial seizures or tonic clonics, but with simple partial seizures, you do maintain conscious awareness and others may not notice anything amiss.
