| One time I felt a tonic clonic coming on, I was tensing up, my brain was feeling really weird, and my hearing ceased and all I could hear was a high pitched squeal. Then it suddenly stopped and I could hear the music again, and I was very very confused and barely made it home after. Mostly my tonic clonic's are nocturnal so I don't have a lot of experience with them while awake. I don't really know why it happens - sometimes they stop, other times they don't.. |

| I've had that happen to me, usually when I focus just right. Other times I think it's an aura that doesn't gain momentum to become a seizure.

| Have experienced something similar since my medication has been increased. Its as if I am caught between a simple partial and a complex partial, like i've moved beyond the simple partial but not quite into the complex partial. It's a horrid feeling. |

| Deb, On occasion I still have the sensation that I'm going to go into a seizure, but it doesn't happen. It's actually an aura, which is still considered a simple partial seizure. I have the VNS and can now keep the actual complex partial or tonic clonic seizure at bay with the magnet.

| Hi Cint, You might be able to help me with this. Are you saying that it is still a simple partial, as for me it is different to my usual simple partial seizures. It's worse and I wish it would just go into a complex partial and be done with it! Your thoughts on this would be appreciated. Roo |

| Roo, My neurologist has always told me that an "aura" is considered as simple partial seizure, or the feeling, warning like I'm going into a complex partial seizure. For me, the aura feels like things start slowing down, sort of like slow motion you see in movies. And everything gets so loud I can't stand to hear it. Then I would go into the complex partial seizure and didn't remember the rest of what happens.

| I too have been told that the aura is actually a simple partial seizure. I get simple partial's on their own and i can never remember if I have had an aura (simple partial) before my complex partial seizures. It's usually one or the other as far as I can tell. From what you have said I think things have taken a bit of a turn and my simple partials are evolving - not all the time, but there is certainly something funny going on. Thanks for your help, Cint |
