Cool Hello.

Hello Everyone,

Cool Welcome Hawke86!...

Lots of friendly folks here with different situations. Someone might be in the same boat as you! What's your situation (if you don't mind of course)?

Peace
Speber

Hi

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for welcoming me. I think I'll enjoy it here. The boat that I ride is I'm still having my seizures. My depression is trying to run my life. I don't know if any of you ever experienced it. I try to not let it take over my life. How long have you people been a member? Is there anyone from San Antonio? I hope everyone has a good day.
Hawke

Hi Hawke86,
I just joined in April. But I love it here. I started to have seizures 5 years ago just out of the blue. I take Trileptal and Lamictal for my seizures and Effoxor for my depression And I take other meds for other things. How long have you had seizures, and what meds do you take? My seizures are not controled on meds alone. So about 3 months ago I had a VNS put in. It hasnt helped yet but the people here said that it will take some time. Which I guess I have all the time in the world. I know things will get better for you just keep your chin up. I hope this helps. If you need to talk to anyone we are all here for you.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Take care....
Necie...

Smile Hi

Hi Necie,
I take carbitrol and lamictal for my seizures. I take Effexor XR for my depression and Risperdal for anxiety attacks. I have had two surgeries for my seizures. I have had my VNS for four years. I have had my seizures since I was about two years old. I got my epilepsy from a head trauma.

Cool Hi

Hi Necie,
My VNS has worked pretty so far. It just shocks real bad sometimes but it usually only when I have a seizure. Sometimes when I use my magnet. You do know you can't have a MRI cause of the VNS. If you have one it with a machine that can transmit and recieve the signal. The VNS can also set off the metal detectors that these stores use and also at the airport.

I glad that you VNS is working well for you. We are still getting my adjusted. I hope it works for me because it is my last resort. Yea I havent been able to do an MRI for almost 2 years now. I had a bleeding aneurysm and they had to take it out and put a plate in. I had to go to the Court House to get my car insurance papers and I made the alarm go off there. Everyone started .looking at me like I was gonna put out a gun or something It was so funny I just looked around and smiledAfter the guard made me take off my belt and made me go through again. I showed him my card and he let me go. It truely was classic

Hi there...so sorry to hear you are dealing with both epilepsy as well as Depression. My son deals with both and right now the Depression is giving him a really tough go of it. His seizures are starting to gain a little more control but still are weekly.
I have depression, but it is better controlled and much milder. My seizures are mild as well. It is my prolonged migraines that are tougher to deal with for me.

Sorry you have become such an alarming guy with the VNS! Hoping it can help the depression though...

Thanks Hawk, I know we are in this for the long haul with Sam. Medications are not controlling his depression, but we do see improvement. We nearly lost him to suicide with one seizure medication, lack of answers with his testing and a couple of stupid doctors 1.5 years ago. Last fall he started a business called PTT< preventing teen tragedy and has been reaching out to teens and young adults ever since. He sells Tshirts and hoodies that he designs ....mostly he talks to a lot of people about what he has been through and has helped quite a few. He has come a long way since then. Still struggles. I know that depression scares me more than his seizures. Both aggravate each other. It is co-morbid and they are tied together. IN my case the depression might have causes the epilepsy or the migraines did possibly, I will probably never know.

Hang in there!
Ginny
