Hello :)

Hello, I'm new to the forum here but am also a member on some other epilepsy forums across the internet. I'm somewhat recently diagnosed (09/09) with complex partial seizures of the left temporal lobe. I've been experiencing what seem to be atonic (quite a bit, around 10 last week) seizures but have yet to have those officially recorded on EEG or by a neurologist. I'm still in the search for a decent neurologist that takes my insurance but hope to look into some tomorrow after getting a few good suggestions. Oh, and a little about me- My name is Mollie and I'm 23 It's nice to meet everyone!!

Hi Mollie, welcome to CWE!

I hope you find a good neurologist soon. Having the right doc can go a long way towards making progress in coping with E. Are you on any meds right now?

Best,
Nakamova

Yes, right now I'm on 1,250 mg of Depakote in the PM and 200mg of Tegretol 3x a day. It's kind of disappointing that despite that much medication I'm still having trouble..

I hope your neurologist knows that tegretol and Depakene (Valproate) both have effects on how each other are metabolized.

I've been put on medications where the doctor was unaware of their interactions enough times that I always check with them now.

Hi Mollie!

I am a recent newbie myself, and I think that you will find a lot more information and friendly advice here than on other sites. Hope your search comes up with someone you like and feel at ease with

Welcome

I'm new here as well welcome . I hope you find some answers.
I know I didn't metabolize Depakote properly and I had some really weird seizes
on it - It wasn't mixed with any other drug either. I also put on 50 pds and I was not happy about that as well.I could drink tons and stay dehydrated!
I over heated when it was no warmer than 75 degrees. All I now it changed the nature of my seizures at the time (grandmal) to no warning complex and partials.
Hopefully you will find a new doctor and get some direction.
