Hello from central Idaho

I am 38 and have new seizures with upper body shaking and migraines auras where I smell things my family does not and also occasional word confusion. These are the first seizures I have had since age eleven when I stopped having granmal's caused by an head injury at age two.

I am afraid I will have to stop driving even though I do not lose awareness during seizures. I just got a neurologist and he did not seem happy I was driving but also would not tell me to stop. My part time job for a small city requires driving (I am an animal control officer).

Thanks,

John Runer

Hi JRuner, welcome to CWE!

Hugs to you. It must be tough to deal with with seizures again, and worry about losing your license after being seizure-free. Do you or your neurologist have a sense of what might have triggered these new seizures? It can be useful to keep a seizure diary to track when and how often the seizures show up and what happens before, during and after -- that way you can see if they are changing or escalating. It's also good to track diet, metabolism, hormones, sleep, any physical and physiological stressors -- so you can potentially identify any seizure triggers and avoid or eliminate them.

Best,
Nakamova

I do not know what has caused these to come back for sure. My life is very high stress with my other disabilities from abuse and chronic pain from a birth defect. I also have a daughter with mild cerebral palsy and night seizures and a developmentaly disabled wife. Plus my son that almost flunked out of school. So I am saying stress! Waiting for MRI results and will have a three day in hospital eeg and epilepsy study next month.

It is good to be here and I will start keeping notes about what is happening before and after seizures. The worst seizure I had so far was at church and I felt relaxed before it.
