Smile Hello, just wanted to introduce myself

Hello All!

I'm a 40 yr old woman who has had two strokes, one in the frontal and one in the temporal lobe. The stroke in the temporal lobe was a dossie. It took three months of intense speech and physical therapy to get me back to work.
Well, I only got to work for three months before I started having what the docs believe is temporal seizures and once again, I am out of work and have also lost my drivers license. My doc put me on Tegretal and gabapentin and have had to increase both. I am to see a specialist on April 27th, hopefully, I'll get some answers and control over what is going on with me. I have looked up seizures on the internet and have to say that a few things sound like what I have, but not many, so I'm very confused (nothing new there LOL) and not sure that what is going on with me is actually seizures. All the information seems like it's contridictory from one site to another in regards to temporal seizures. Not that I can really, in all honesty, understand it anyway since all this started my comprehension skills have flown out the window. Well, I guess that I've bent your alls ear long enough. Sorry that I've ranted on for so long.

Take care and thanks for listening (or reading, whatever)

Hi Blue - welcome to CWE. I am glad that you joined us here. We are very good at listening and sometimes we have something of value to reply.
It can be a confusing time, though I do hope your specialist can guide you in the right direction. I know I was overwhelmed at first, but as I learned more it gave me more insight into the disorder, and then I was able to help my daughter.

Do you have a supportive family and friends?

Thank you Robin. Yes, I do have great support from family and friends. I don't know what I would have done without their love and care. The only thing is, is that they really don't understand what I'm going through, even though they see what happens to me and the consequences. My husband thinks that I just need to get off all the meds I'm on and exercise more lol.
Well, thanks again and take care!

My daughter needed to get off the meds and begin eating differently, take vitamins and minerals for brain and body health, and do Neurofeedback. It hasn't been a quick fix, but according to our journal there is continuing improvement. No denying that.

Hi blue! Welcome to CWE. Feel free to ask questions, vent, or just chime in. You'll find that this is a pretty friendly group of people. Check out the library here at the site.

Welcome B. Mcgoo

It's always good to have people with new experiences contribute. The more viewpoints that are available the better we can figure things out.

Like Skillefer said, check out the library but keep in mind that the Padded Room is a great place to vent your frustrations, angers & stresses.

Welcome to CWE Blue. Have a seat a and enjoy exploring all the great info on the site. One thing I learned quickly here is that there is no defined set of symptoms that desribe everyone. Most have at least one unique quirk. Reactions to treatments vary just as much.

Best of luck with your appointment and I hope you get some answers. Also don't worry about long entries. They are all read by at least a few people.
