Hey there!

Hello,
I'm anne and I have a 20yr old son with Autism/nonverbal, Mental Retardation and Eilepsy. He had first seizure in T/C 2005, he has had 2 T/C and 3 breakthrough ones, we have managed to keep under control until Monday night. Monday night T/C over 5 minutes and and trip to ER. I just guess I joined because I feel so helpless and really would love to just cry my eyes out, so I will read the forum and find people like me and hope.

anne

Welcome Anne

There are a lot of people on this site that have gone (or are going) through the stress & emotions you seem to be. We even have a "Padded Room" where you can vent your emotions if you need to http://www.coping-with-epilepsy.com/forums/f34/. There are also a lot of parents here who have autistic children. You might want to use the "search" option at the top of the page (3rd from the right) to find more relevant threads.

I've found the people here to be great & extremely supportive, it's great to see others that have been through the same (or at least similar) experiences.

Welcome Anne,

I have a special needs son too, he's 11 years now, has mental retardation caused by braindamage, he can't walk or talk, and has a nasty epilepsy syndrome. His first seizures were at age 1,5. We've tried many anti-epileptic drugs but they didn't help at all. He is on the ketogenic diet for over six years now which helpes to reduce his seizures, no meds anymore.

Welcome to CWE, it's a great place were people can share anything and offer a lot of support to eachother.

Hi Anne
Welcome. I have a daughter that has had seizures for the past four years.
Have you found any of the websites that suggest alternative therapies for autism and seizure disorders?
