Smile Hi!

Im Steve, the son of Brain. She has epilepsy and I dont. But we both have neurologist probs. I have neurologist handicap but no seizures yet and hope not to get any. Have had EEGs before and they were abnormal but no seizures. I need insurance so I can get my neurologist updated. I dont post much but wanted to say Hi so Hi! My mom broke my AOL again, some nerd she is. Hahahahahahahahaha!

I love to modify motorcycles and cars and my mom loves to modify computers and breaks them. Hahahahahahahaha! Something about modifying mods whatever that means, at least my modified bikes and cars runs when Im done! Hahahahahahahaha! But mom is an expert so she will fix it. Gotta go now. Bye!

at my Son!

Remember I am YOUR mother and you
are still living in my house and don't
forget that! And I am a "Geek" and not
a "Nerd"!

No worries Folks! We've got a lovable
relationship, in fact we've had some really
odd-balled experiences we would love to
share. Some of them are downright hilarious!

My son watches me like a hawk, and he's
lived his entire life with having a mom with
Epilepsy and Neurological problems, even
though he just has Neurological problems but
doesn't have Epilepsy or Seizures (thank goodness!).

There has been many times my son has had
to call 911 or the neurologist or the Doctor in his
entire life! He has his fill of Neuros, and there
are three Neuros he loves. One neurologist is no
longer practicing, one is retired, and one who
is currently treating me. He doesn't trust any
one else. But there is a neurologist he adores but
never was my neurologist who did my EEG's and he
was the RESPONSIBLE neurologist that taught my
son what to do
!

Hi Steve

Welcome to the forums. Your mum seems like a really nice person.

Brain it's really great that your son likes to keep an eye on you. I think it's good if we have someone there to look out for us because not only can they help us when we need it, they're also support. I have my parents but they live 30 mins away from me so can't always get to me straight away so I also have a neighbour who keeps an eye on me aswell lol.

It's also good if you get along with your Neuroligist, I only live in a country town so there is only 2 Neurologists in our area. The Neurologist that I go to is really nice though and doesn't mind if my Mum comes in with me. It probably sounds crazy for my Mum to come into my Neurologist appts with me since I'm a grown woman but she likes to find out how things are going with my epilepsy.

CQ, it's not wierd at all - especially if seizures are uncontrolled. Stacy could not remember anything when she was having rampant seizures. If I had not been there to talk to the doc, he would not have had a clue what she was going through and Stacy would not have remembered anything the doc said.

I know Stacy hates that I have to be there at times, but I suffer through her infrequent complaints because I know it's important.

Steve, you are an angel for all that you do helping your mother.

Brain, may you be so lucky to always have a hawk on your shoulder to scurry the mice away and fly you to safety.

CQ:

My mom if she's in town or not busy, will
drive me if she has to to my appointments
if they are far away. But all my Doctor's
are close by so I can ride my bike over. My
Doctors call my son and talks with him, but
he's 23 years old and he works, so it's not
easy for him to take me to the appointments.

Steve prefers his jobs to be close by; and he
lets those Doctors know his work number(s).
And he often has his buddies check up on me
sometimes if I am "out of it" to make sure I'm
"all good".

So Bernard's right - it's not weird at all. And
I agree with Stacy ~ it can be uncomfortable
with someone being with you and you're an
adult (not a helpless being)!

My son can testify when I sulked and got mad
and my neurologist said, "Fine, then YOU tell me what
happens when YOU have a seizure?" Well, he had
a point .... I said nothing.

I 1st saw my Neurologist was the day after I started taking seizures again and I still wasn't with it yet. I went to the appt on my own while my Mum waited out in the waiting room. My Mum ended up having to come into the appt afterall to give the Neurologist the relevant info because I was no help lol.

I don't mind Mum coming into the neurologist appts with me because I know she prefers to come in with me & she probably knows more about my epilepsy then I do (having had to deal with my epilepsy when I was a baby and then when I started taking the seizures again after a 22 yr break.)

My Mum has witnessed me take many seizures (both very mild & strange ones lol). Like you Bernard, Mum can tell the neurologist about how i was when i took the seizures & if I did anything out of the ordinary. Also i haven't got a very good memory so if the neurologist does tell me anything important Mum is more likely to remember it then me.

Hi Brain

My GPs surgery is in walking distance so I usualy walk to any appts on my own.

My Neurologists office is too far to walk so my parents usualy drive me to my Neurologists appts.
