Smile Hi Everyone

Well,

Since I'm new I figured I'd introduce myself. I'm Neil from Massachusetts. I was involved in a hit an run while riding a bike. Unfortunately it was one of the few times I WASN'T wearing a helmet. Car, Bike, Pavement, and the head didn't win. At first they didn't put me on any meds for seizures but after a few months back at work and having one things changed. That was about 6 years ago. Since that time I've had several more, with the most recent at work (again). I'm not sure how much longer this can actually go on. I had an uncle that had seizure problems from a tumor which was inoperarable, and he eventually passed away during a seizure. But it's good to see others that are doing well and I look forward to this site.

Thanks,
Neil

A big hello from me, Neil and a warm welcome to CWE

This place is extremely supportive and will give you the reassurance that you definitely need!

I assume that you are taking medication?

There are so many posts to search for which may hopefully answer any immediate questions you have - the search function on this forum is extremely handy for that

No doubt other members will be able to help you out too!

*hugs*

Hi Neil,

If you're still having seizures talk to your neurologist to see if your dosage needs adjusting, or if there other meds to try that can help get things under control. You might want to check out the link below as well:

Hi Neil,
This is a great place for information, support or just venting. Having E isn't easy, but there is hope!
I got diagnosed two years ago at age 47. My meds levels have been adjusted several times. Also, there may be a different med that would work for you too.
My father had 2 grand mals at 47 and his were controlled and he got to go off his meds after 2 years and now at 76 has not had any more seizures. Mine, are totally different than his...my are simple and complex partials and neurologist says because mine are from partiel lobe, I will never be able to go off meds.
Seizures can be deadly....and we live with that, and for some, that is the motivation to keep taking those pills every day. Although you lost a family member, that doesn't mean it will happen to you.
Most of my seizures have been at work too....I believe the lighting at work is the cause of mine. Have you started keeping a journal to determine what your triggers are? Lack of sleep and stess are two of the greatest....but I have a lot of light, strobe, etc that trigger my seizures too.

Hi Jg,

Well I have had a lot of stress recently (past 6 months of last year watching my mother spend 6 months from hospital to hospital and eventually pass away). I am taking carbamezapine (200mg 2x day). So, we'll see what happens. Thanks to everyone for your posts. I probably won't be responding over the weekend as my PC at home is having trouble. Thanks again,
Neil

Wow, that is a stressful situation.
My neurologist tells me, one seizure is too many and I should let him know right away if I have any so he can adjust meds. Do contact your doc and let him/her know.
Take care and let us know how you are doing. Try to get some rest, I always nap on weekend!

Welcome!

Feel free to roam around. check out the lounge for some inside joke fun. or the lemonade stand if you ever need some cheering up. or the padded room if you ever feel like you just need to sound off.

There is the kitchen for asking some general questions about Epilepsy and seizures, as well as the library where you can check out and post any research, news or suggestions about E.

Bernard (our host) made this site in dedication to his wife stacey who suffers from E. He decided that others will also need helpign in coping, thus this family was born. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM him or any other moderators

I know that any time that I am having stressful situations I am more likely to have a sez. Usually around the holidays I'll have quite a few, more than I have regularly.

Also anytime that I have a sez I make sure that I call the neurologist to tell him. It doesn't matter if it is a big one or just a little one. This lets him know what's going on with me and if he needs to adjust any of my medicine levels.

I know that I've gotten alot of help here and I hope you do to!
