Unhappy hi I am a newbie ..

Hi all my name is Liz,and I am new to this so please bear with me.I had an episode on Monday morning and ended up in A&E,was really scarey, more so for the girl who was with me because I was out cold for most of it.I will try and explain it best I can.It started off as if everything was going blurry then I got a tingle down my left side of my face, shaky hands, blue lips, and tongue going down my throat(dont remember any of this),then just collapsed, came to in t he pharmacy across the road.An ambulance came shortly after and away I went, just got the usual tests in A&E blood pressure, heart monitor and bloods taken.I should receive an appointment to attend the First Seizure Clinic in the next couple of days, but am still quite stiff and sore at he moment and dont really know what to think.Thanx for reading, feels better writing it all down xx

Hi Liz! Welcome to CWE. Glad to have you here with us. Just wish it were for other reasons. We're very friendly, so feel free to ask questions, vent in the padded room, or just chime in. Also, check out the Epilepsy 101 thread in my signature...it's got some good basic information. Also, people can have seizures without it being epilepsy....so don't be surprised if your doc asks alot of questions. Also, try to think back and jot down how much sleep you got Sunday night, what you ate Monday, when and how much, as well as what you drank and how much. Jot down if you've been under any stress or if you have been sick. And then try to keep a journal with that type of info everyday. Also jot if you have any other spells or odd feelings. (THis includes any dizziness, tingling, spasms, migraines, spaciness , etc...)Take the journal with you to your next doctor's appt. It'll give him more information so that he/she can do his best to help you. Also, if you don't already, get yourself on a decent sleeping schedule....at least 7 hours a night....Ok? Many of us find that we're more likely to seize if we don't get enough sleep. Also, if the doc orders an EEG, don't be surprised if it comes out normal....alot of us have EEG's where there's no sign of Epilepsy....

Hi Liz, welcome to the forum.

There are many different types of seizures. It's possible that you've been experiencing seizure activity for a while and didn't know it.

Make yourself at home here.

Hi ! and welcome . Keep us posted about your appointment. Skillefer has given some excellent advice. If this was your first seizure , then it may not be epilepsy. Then again , as bernard says , you could also have been having seizures without realizing it (I thought i was just clumsy untill i realised i was having myoclonic seizures). All the best.
