Hi, this is my first post, and I already need help, sorry.

Hello,

It is great to be able to share and learn with and from others. This site seems really great so far. Now a little about me, I can remember suffering from auras, though I didn't know that is what they were back then, since at least the age of six. I thought that everyone felt that way from time to time. Finally, I figured out that not everyone did and by that time they were two hard to explain to anyone that I literally thought I was going crazy. Of course the fact that mental illness runs in my family did not help either. I saw my first neurologist at the age of 20 and although he found scar tissue on my brain and abnormal results on a 24 hour EEG he did not discuss the possbility of seizures with me. A year later I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes which explained a lot because I was so sick all of the time. However the auras or the bad feelings as I was used to calling them were always there. I was treated for depression and I was concerned that maybe I was having panic attacks. 6 years later I starting having episodes where I would lose awareness. Finally last January, I was diagnosed with complex partial seizures. They becames more and more frequent and meds either did not help or I was allergic so in Oct of last year I had brain surgery and although I have not had any more complex partial seizures, in mid November I noticed different feelings not like the auras before and not the complex complex seizures but something in the middle. I think it maybe simple partial seizures and would like to get feedback on it from anyone here who could think they may be able to help, I would greatly appreciate it. Either way I am glad to now be a part of this online community.

Hi Amb,

Welcome to the forum .

An aura can also be known as a simple partial seizure & it isn't unusual to still have partial seizures or auras not long after having surgery as your brain is still settling down.

I had left front temporal lobe surgery in March 2011 & I am currently 10 1/2 months seizure free but I do have a couple of friends who continued to have auras after they had surgery.

Have you been making note of any odd feelings you get so you can tell your neurologist/epitiologist?

Good luck with your recovery & hope that these feelings you get settle down as time goes on.

Yes I have been keeping track. Thanks so much for sharing.
My husband is definitely awesome but it is still great to speak to others who know how it feels to go through this.
