Hi new here!

Hi my name is Casie. I live in Florida but my heart is in New Orleans.
I recently started having seizures. I've had about 20 grand mals in the past 2 months.
I finally went to a neurologist and was diagnosed with epilepsy.
I'm coming here for the same reason you're here....To learn more, and I feel the best way is from others with the same problem.
So hopefully I can get some questions answered and get some new insight.
Thanks for checking out my post!

You waited until you had 20 grand mal seizures before seeing a neurologist? My goodness!

Make yourself at home here. I'm sure you will discover some useful information here.

Welcome Casie,

Come on in and stay awhile. We are always open for new members and this is the best site I have ever found. So have a seat and get comfortable.

Just remember that epilepsy is not the end of the world. I am 47 and have had it since 20. Your life is still wide open before you.

I actually went to the ER when I had 3 in one day. Then I had one more later that day.
Then on Nov 4 I had 12 in one day. My friends brought me to the ER and they basically said there was nothing they could do. They prescribed me ativan and sent me on my way.
It took me about a week to get into the dr office. Once I did, there still didn't seem like there was much she could do since the EEG and MRI are so expensive. And I don't have insurance. Thank God I finally went to a different hospital. They admitted me as a patient over night. So I was finally able to get my testing done.

Thank you everyone for being so inviting! It's great to find some answers! Thank you again.

Welcome Casie - I am sure you will find this place very warm and caring. It's so sad to think that a person's life can be measured with money.

Casie!

I can "hear" and "relate" to you, for I am
also from Florida likewise; however, I am
glad you finally were able to obtain a
Neurologist ---> You may now be able to
proceed in hitting up in the Blue Pages to
the County Health Department and dial it
up and request the Head Nurse; and from
there - inform him/her of your situation and
imply that it is imperative that you have to
have Medical Insurance / Assistance immediately
and provide the explanation. The Head Nurse
will then most likely ask questions and redirect
or even may send a case worker out to your
direction, and if there's a Epilepsy Foundation
Chapter or Affiliate or Independent Epilepsy
Organization/Agency - they may also be summoned
and alerted as well; and from there - it would be
a major push start for you in obtaining Insurance
and getting you help, even if you had already
obtained medical bills - they will get the ball
rolling ... hope this information will get you going.
