Howdy

I am new here. Thought I would chime in. I have had Left Temporal Lobectomy 7-11-05. Was seizure free for a year. It slowly came back. Getting worse and worse over time. Until around this Thanksgiving time I was found on the floor almost dead having constant tonic clonic. Takin to the ER I did not stop and did not stop. One after another for days.

I just was lucky someone came to my house and found me.

I am looking for anyone with help with headaches, any ideas? Since the surgery I have a constant headache and it is caused by light and sound.

Thanks for reading me.

Erin

Hi Erin,
I just thought I'd say Hello. I am new here too. Sorry about your seizures, but glad you were o.k. I get alot of headaches also. Sometimes I can't even pinpoint the root of mine??? I do know they can go hand in hand with seizures.Wish I had more to offer. Just thought I'd say Hello! Best of luck!

Michelle

Hi Erin - Welcome!

You are very lucky.
I do not have seizures, my daughter does. Migraines tend to run along the female side of my family. I was able to rid myself of them by taking magnesium. I was extremely light sensitive, and sound affected me when in the throws of a migraine.

Rebecca's doctor has asked me to increase her magnesium levels too. I am experimenting with different varieties for her at the moment, as some are more readily absorbed. I use an ionic variety.

Welcome Erin

My neurologist prescribed Midrin for my migraines and helped tremendously!

You know the Topamax may be causing the headaches. It has some rather nasty side effects. I suffered horrendous eye pain and it can cause blindness.

Hi Erin, welcome to the forum.

There are several threads here on the subject of headaches and migranes. I'll link to one and it contains links to the others:

Oxygen therapy for headaches

Sorry to heat that your surgery didn't offer permanent results. It seems that the original studies on the brain surgeries only followed patients for 6 months and the reoccurance of seizures becomes more pronounced after 1-2 years. (see this page on temporal lobectomies for more info).
