I'm BAAAAAACK!!!!!

Hi,
I haven't posted in forever but that is because I have finally decided that I control my seizures, they don't have control of me. Actually, I have been using biofeedback and behavior modification as well as 800 mgs of tegretol to control them......

Peaceful Hugs

Rose

Welcome back Rose

Congratulations on getting your seizures under control . I'd love to hear more about the details of behaviour modification. I've been accepted into a treatment group for epileptics to get Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Is that what you're referring to?

I got involved with a research study at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland Oregon using the Andrews-Reiter method that using deep breathing and meditation to control seizures. It also includes assertiveness training. Its hard to explain but since I have been in the study( at the beginning I was having at least 5 seizures a day 7 days a week) I am down to maybe one every 18-20 months if that and that is only under extreme stress.

That sounds fantastic! Is this what you were involved in?

Welcome back Rose! I am so glad to hear that you have responded so well to your treatments. That is absolutely wonderful! I am currently dealing with daily seizures, and I have just started neurofeedback. I would love to see some positive results.

Good to have you here with us again!

Take care.

Awesome news Rose. I am so thrilled to hear this.
I hope you can share your story with others here. We have been considering using the book as a guide and open a group here for others who want to work on this from home.

The cool thing is that for part of the study, I worked directly with Donna Andrews and keep in touch with her via e-mail on a regular basis( as regular as can be, considering she is a very busy lady and I have to limit my computer time because of it being a trigger for me)

Nice to see you again Rose and fantastic news on the seizure control.

Perhaps you could elaborate a bit more on your experience with Dr. Andrews' therapy in the History Book forum (see the sticky thread before posting)?
