Just wanted to introduce myself!

I don't know all the bigt words or even all the answer to the question you will ask...
I have epilepsy. Its only getting worse with age. No medicine controls it. I am recovering addict but have had epilepsy long before I became an addict. Sober for 5 months and seizure free for 1 week today!

Hopefully this place will be a place I can figure out what I am doing wrong...

I see you're in Nashville. Are you seeing a neurologist at Vanderbilt? I used to live in Memphis and saw an epileptologist at UT-Memphis, but she has now moved to Boston. Before she was in Memphis at the epileptologist-Care Center, she was at Vanderbilt. I do hope you find something that works for controlling your seizures now that you're sober.

Welcome! I'm sure there's something out there to help you get this under control. You just have to search for the right neurologist or epilepsy specialist. Congratulations on your sobriety and keep pushing forward.

sixyearsold,

Welcome to the forum! I'm glad you found us.

You may be doing nothing wrong right now. It takes time for all the bad drugs to completely leave your system and for your body to adjust to them being gone. And it can take a lot of tinkering and a lot of time to find the right seizure medication and the right dosage. When you were taking illegal drugs I can understand why nothing worked. Now that you are off of them, you have a brand new chance.

I didn't see what medication and dosage you are on. What are you taking and how long have you been on it, at the current dosage?

Everything is going to be okay. Try to be patient and give the neurologist some time to make things work.

<<<big hugs>>>
