Smile Menstrual cycle

Hi there. Just to let you know. I'm a new member and
I find this website very helpful. So glad it's here!
Just wondering if any women have seizures around or
during their period and if so how they dealt with it and treated it. I've been keeping track for awhile and have
noticed that I'm most vulnerable when my PMS begins and my period ends.
Some of the info I've read suggests hormone thereapy.
Perhaps talk to my gynaecologist, or an endocrinologist. It's hard to know where to go from here. If any of you experience this or have any suggestions, I would love to hear from you. Take care

Hi eslucas! Actually, several of us have seizures around our menstrual cycles. I think you'll find the info you're looking for in the library section of the forum. As for me...I usually try to get more rest and make sure that I take my vitamins during those weeks.

I was wondering this as well! I'm glad you brought this up, I noticed that mine are worse during this time, but I am still logging my seizures, I am going to watch this and see if it rings true

Hi eslucas, welcome to the forum.

My wife takes a little bit of pregnenolone (a precursor to progesterone). Your doctors should be able to figure out the best course of action for your case.

Hi eslucas!

My name is Danielle and I am new here as well. About your question, before I had my surgery to treat my epilepsy I would have to say that this time would be the worst when I would experience my seizures. Although this may sound silly but, I noticed that when I drank a lot of fluids and exercised it helped out dramatically.

Hi my name is Kez and i am also new.

I did used to suffer terribly surrounding my periods especially the week prior and couple of days into it. I would end up with multiple seizures that would continue until intervention was given.

since i have had a marina coil put in it really does make the difference for me. I am 38 and now i dont have periods often which is a wonderful think.lol.

But i have found i get less moody and less sensitive surrounding my eyes etc.

My husband thinks it is a cure.lol.

Hi there. Thanks so much for your input. I empathize with all women who are are experiencing the same problem I am but it's nice to know I'm not alone and we have
a forum to support each other.
It's interesting how different things work for different people and I'll certainly consider all suggestions. Thanks again.
