Missed dose

If you forget to take your bed time dose of medication can it induce a seizure the next day?

There's no way to predict for sure one way or another. It depends on how sensitive you are to changes in your medication levels, and what your seizure threshold is, as well as which med you're on and how it releases into your bloodstream. If you've missed a dose and are worried that you might have as seizure, try to get ahold of your doc for instructions. In many cases they say don't double up, just wait until your next regularly scheduled dose, but your doctor should have as sense of what's right for you.

When I went to the E.R. for a seizure, I told the ER doctor that I had missed meds the night before. He said that usually one missed dose or a late dose probably won't cause problems for most. Some people are more sensitive than others though.
For me, I had another seizure and the doctor told me that I'm just one of those people that cannot be too late on meds- because I will start having troubles.
Now I take Lamictal XR 400mg and Keppra XR 3000mg each day which makes it easier to keep that medication level in the blood stable much longer. I noticed that when I missed a dose of regular medication (not XR) I would get tremors when I woke up. But now, I could miss a whole day and never know it. I don't usually miss meds though.

Take care,
Crystal

Form years the first thing my current neurologist would ask is "Have you missed a dose?" I try very hard not to but with my ongoing confution I can't tell you if I have.
This is my first response. I am new. I hope I did it right. I wish you all my best. lonnie
