My mom had epilepsy

Hi, everyone. My name's Alicia. My mom had epilepsy her whole life. I fault myself for not knowing much about the disease. I just took for granted that it was controlled by medication. she died tuesday as a result at age 58. I just wanted to come here for support, knowledge, understanding. I am so lost.

I am so sorry for your loss. You cannot blame yourself, your mother wouldn't want that.
I know I have tried to educate my family about the dangers of seizures. My son is really the only one that I think fully understands. The rest of my family says they think I need a new doctor since I haven't been cured yet! When I try explaining seizures can cause death, they tell me that I am overdramatic and want attention...I really don't, I just want them to be aware.
God Bless you and your family...we are here for you if you need some one to talk to.

Thank you so much for your condolences on the loss of my mom. I just hope that people start to realize that epilepsy can kill. What a way for me to find out. I am so upset, I wish God would've taken me instead.

I know you are in a lot of pain, I am sure your mom would not wanted you to die in her place. I am sure she loved you and wanted nothing but the best for you. Perhaps you can be a positive influence to help spread the word to others in your mom's memory.

There 's another link on here...but Newsweek did a good story about seizures
Here's the link if you want to read it

There are a lot of people that don't know the dangers of seizures, you are not alone.
Big Hugs to you!

The loss of a loving parent is so hard, no matter what the circumstances. Treat yourself gently. Surround yourself with good folks, and good memories of your mom.

Be well.

I am very sorry for your loss. Please do not be too hard on yourself, 'moms' don't want to worry their children. I am just sorry that your time together was shorter than you expected. Moms have a way of leaving an indelible mark upon their children...sounds like she gave you the gift of acceptance
