| This sounds like a simple partial seizure. When I get mine I get this intense deja vu feeling for about 30-45 seconds followed by nausea and a horrible headache. |

| Welcome to the forum! What you are describing could be a number of things, or it could be more than 1 thing together. I can think of 3 or 4 possible disorders right off the top of my head, but I'm not a doctor. It's a good idea to get advice from someone who is licensed to do so, lol.... The best step is to find a GOOD neurologist. This can be a tough task because like any other specialist, some are good and some aren't. It takes a neurologist to sort through your symptoms and figure out what's going on, brain-wise. Also involve your primary care physician, who will test for diseases that mimic seizures, like tia's, some inflammatory diseases or metabolic disorders, etc. The road to diagnosis can be a long one. Know we are with you every step of the way. |

| Dear jrrdkpr, Your symptoms are a bit vague unfortunately but differentials can range from trifling things to really serious things. The symptoms you mention can be caused by 1) partial seizures / absence seizures can cause the symptoms you describe 2) severe magnesium deficiency ( less than 1.2) which leads to calcium deficiency and the resultant speech defects , weakness on one side and dizziness 3)Broca's Aphasia ( lesion in your language center) but this is rarely transient( like your 30s attacks) unless you have a very small lesion . Usually symptoms include: Nonfluent ( slow) , telegraphic ( "mom go hospital") or muteness of speech difficulty naming stuff , weakness on the right side ( both arm and leg) A particular subtype of Broca's seems to fit your description ( it's called aphemia). symptoms include initial muteness followed by a monumental effort to speak - but the speech is often garbled with phonemic substitutions ( shoon instead of spoon). writing and reading are unimpaired. 4) certain types of migraine can cause dizziness and speech disorder during the attack but this is very rare and is seen during the aura preceding a migraine 4)Lots of other causes based on the results of your workup You need to get an MRI and meet a neurologist ASAP since this requires a thorough history and examination , which can't be done over the internet ![]() Hope u get better regards, Arvind
