Talking New to forum and probably talk too much

Hi everyone

I'm a college student from Canada studying to become a Chef. I was diagnosed with temporal lobe epilepsy when I was 14 or 15. I had been experiencing simple partial and complex partial seizures for years prior but didn't know what they were and it wasn't till I had an incident at school that I got checked out and learned what they were.

Soooo here I am Im probably going to ask a lot of questions because a) I've never really met or talked with others that have epilepsy and b) I no longer have a neurologist (first because theres only one in my city (yikes) and second because...I can't remember what I was going to say...that happens a lot to me, sorry!)

I don't have internet at home till next week so if I don't respond right away or within a couple days I promise Im not ignoring you!

hello Hotwire- welcome to the Group. Jot things down and keep a seizure diary so when you do see a neurologist or a doctor you will have reminders of what to say. Look forward to hearing more from you when you get a computer.

Nick

Hi Hotwire,

Welcome to the forum.

There are some great people on here, all who have different stories & experiences with epilepsy. If you have any questions feel free to ask as I'm sure someone would help out.

As Nicholas said, keeping a seizure diary is really good to jot down any seizures you have or anything which seems strange so if you do find another neurologist you can just show them the diary.

Hi Hotwire, welcome to CWE!

I hope you can find a way to see a neurologist, or at least a GP who has some familiarity with epilepsy. Do you have a local epilepsy group? they may be able to provide some help.

I hope you feel free to explore the forums here, and get to know all the terrific CWE members.

Best,
Nakamova

Welcome hotwire! This is a great place to get info and support and to vent. I also had simple partials for years (which I chose to ignore because they weren't really causing any real problems for me). I finally got checked out after a tonic/clonic that landed me in the ER.

Glad you found us here.

PS: Don't worry about "talking too much". No such thing!
