Hi I'm Hanna. I'm 22 and I have absence epilepsy. No one else I know has epilepsy so its a bit lonely. Also having absence epilepsy means that the majority of other people with it are children. I just wanted to speak with people who know what epilepsy is and i dont have to stop and explain everything. Also so I don't have to explain every five minutes that absence seizures isnt just an excuse for day dreaming. I'd love to hear from people in similar positions.

Welcome Hanna

I'd say this is the place to find others with seizures as well as those close to them.

I know when I was younger my mom (who was a special ed teacher) was always lecturing me on my "daydreaming".

I'm sure a lot of people have gone through that and other accusations you've had. Make yourself at home in the meantime. Check out the site & feel free to join in any time..

I am going to be 22 in july, and have absence seizures too.

I find it hard to tell when I have had one, as they only last 5-20 seconds. Plus I daydream (actually) alot because I get bored with what I am doing, or lazy. So unless Im in the middle of speaking, paging someone, or writing I rarely notice I have had any time lapse.

Except when one second my fiancee is at the end of the hall, and the next blink he is in my face. Talk about startling.

Hi Hanna, welcome to CWE!

You'll find plenty of good company here, including a number of UK members. Make yourself at home!

Best,
Nakamova

I joined up for the same reason, it's hard for people to understand what it's like unless they've experienced it themselves.
I'm new too And everyone here seems friendly and everyone is very understanding. It's good to read other peoples experiences.
