I had a seizure in 1985 and was put on tegreol for 2 years. ct scans found nothing eeg found suggestive seizures military dr took me off tegretol and I was honorable discharged after my 3 years service so for 20 years no medicine no uncouscious seizures

2004-2006 seizures put on keepra
Aug 2006 MRI showed a 8mm ganglioglimoa brain tumor on the side of my right temporal lobe
Oct 2006 removed it
June 2008 dr lowed my keepra dosage and I thought I was done with seizures then the EEG found still seizure activity (I felt a electric feeling and my leg felt like it was lifting I was napping)
July 7 2008diagnosed partial epilepsy
What that means I'm still trying to find out.

Welcome to the group! I'm sure you will find everyone to be quite welcoming and knowledgeable. The entire seizure/epilepsy diagnosis issue is extremely complicated. It appears that everyone is different, making it so difficult for both the physicians and the patients. I wish you well.

Hi Yorkie. Welcome to CWE. I hope you get things under control--I think the lack of control is the most frustrating part. The folks here are really great...they've got lots of information, can relate to what you're going through and will let you vent to them whenever you need to. I have partial ep.--just means that the 'electrical phenomena' (as one doc described seizures to me) occurs in only part of your brain, causing strange feelings, blank-outs, etc; generalized tonic-clonic seizures occur when the screwy electrical activity takes place throughout your brain. Either way, it sucks. Hope you like it here.

LOL....Welcome to CWE Yorkie! As you can tell, the group here is pretty friendly. Feel free to ask questions, vent, or just chime in when you want to. As for your question, Partial means that the seizure is only happening in one part of your brain. Generalized, like tonic clonics (sometimes called grand mals) take up the entire brain. Check out the Epilepsy 101 thread in the library here. It gives some excellent info about epilepsy. Also, if you want, check out the alternative therapies thread. Some people's seizures are controlled well with meds, some use an alternative therapy along with their meds, and others choose to just use alternative therapies. Anyway, it's good info. It can be really frustrating when you don't have info. So feel free to ask any questions. And again, welcome.

Hi Yorkie - WELCOME to CWE

My daughter Rebecca, is the one that has the seizures. She is now sixteen and has been dealing with this since June '06.

She recently has gone from having 6 tonic clonic seizures a month to none last month.
Some of what I attribute the positive change is written in her story below.
