Smile New member from Scotland

I have epilepsy as the result of brain damage during an operation. Was uncontrolled from 1986 to 2003. Since then have been seizure free. I have tried lots of different drugs over the years. Even took part in a human drug trial for Lamotrigine in 1991.

I realise this is a US forum so the drugs I mention might have European names (maybe someone can tell me the US equivalent).

Live in bonnie Scotland near Edinburgh.

Welcome bongolier

Actually there are a lot of people here from all over- I'm from Canada & we've got quite a few members from the UK.

As for anti-epileptic drugs having different names from different countries... we usually figure that out pretty easily.

Take a look around & make yourself at home here.

Hi bongolier, welcome to CWE!

Are you still on meds, or drug-free now? I'm on Lamotrigine too, and it works for me in terms of seizure control.

Best,
Nakamova

Still taking drugs

Every day I take a cocktail of Tergretol XR (800mg), Lamictal(600mg) and Keppra (1000mg).

Kept me controlled since 2003 - I now drive and have been given a licence which will run until I'm 70.

In UK driving licences are restricted to 3 years until seizure free for 7 years.

I'm looking forward to taking a part in discussions.

Welcome Bongolier,

CWE has a lot of foreign members, f.i. from the UK, from Canada, Australia, India and even had a foreign moderator: Í am Dutch and I live in the Netherlands. My son has an epilepsy syndrome caused by braindamage.
Usually I do use the generic name off anti-epileptic drugs on CWE instead of the brand name (valporate instead of Depakine/Depakote or Epilim, clobazam instead of Frisium etc.)
