Hi I am Kel a mom of four and my youngest was diagnosed with having benign rolandic epilepsy a year ago. Last June he was sleeping and upon waking he said he was shaking and drooling in his bed. I thought he was just kidding and being silly when I called home to check on the kids. That night my daughter told me and showed me the story. That morning after we went to our family dr and he said it wasn't a seizure because he could remember them ordered an EEG. That came back abnormal. The MRI came back abnormal and sent us to a pediatric neuroligist. Then did not have any for months until Feb he had five so went back for MRI and the EEG. He wanted to put him on trileptol 150mg. I cried but with much hesitation I got the RX filled. My instincts kept saying no don't do it but I did. Then after 3 days he experienced tremors. I called the dr and he said to stop it for about a week and then start it again. It didn't make sense but okay. Well I work at a salon and our massage therapist were talking and I stumbled accross cranial sacrial technique!!! I took him to a chiropractor that had been trained for that technique and changed his eating habits and takes mineral suppliments including magnesium. But he just had one thurs and sat. So I feel a little set back and felt like I needed to educate myself some more and stumbled accross this forum and I am so happy about that!!! thank you

Hi Kel, welcome to the forum.

I'm not familiar with all the details of your son's specific diagnosis (BRE), but it sounds like you are doing everything you can to be proactive in his care. Kudos to you and I hope you find some answers here.

Thank you for informing me on that because I have soooo much to learn and have already since I have found this site!!!!! I have been reading other experiences and know that my little guy is going to be just fine. I just have to keep learning. I never experienced anything like this and I feel so helpless.

Good morning! Well my son had a seizure this morning. I don't know what the trigger was. It lasted about a minute. It is not a Grand Mal seizure but it is still so scary to me. He sleeps in our bed because of this and it is so new to us and for some reason I know when it is going to happen. This morning I woke up and turned over and not but a minute later he started seizing. It breaks my heart knowing I can't do anything to help him.

Out of curiosity, have you started keeping a journal? If not, please do. It is a pain in the arse, I admit, but it does help you narrow things down. Write everything down. When and how long he sleeps, what he does (TV, video games, computer stuff, & for how long) what he eats & when and how much...eventually something's going to show up......even the times he takes his meds. For some people, taking their meds at the EXACT same time EVERY DAY makes a difference. Some people on the other hand, can stretch their luck by an hour or two, and not have a problem.....

I know when Rebecca first had her seizures, I kept her close to me as well, and she was 14. I must say I am more relaxed now, but then she just doesn't appear to have them at night... except for the second one. Weird.
