Psychological Seizures?

Hi everyone!,

My boyfriend has seizures but only between the months of november and january we call them "Seasonal". He has gone to 4 different doctors who have all said that they can not classify him as epileptic. It is very frustrating not have answers but i began research and i have been reading up on psychological seizures. His dad got sick around november 4 years ago ad passed away 3 years ago in february. I am thinking that the time of year causes him more stress and emotional tension. Has anyone done any reaearch on this or know anything about it and steps that we can take to get some answers and hopefully get through this because he is on seizure meds that obviously dont help around this time.

Thanks!

Nikki

I tend to have more seizures during that time peirod because of the holidays. Stress is a number one seizure trigger for me. These are usually stressful times getting stuff ready for Thanksgiving, Christmas, a family birthday. There's just so much that needs to be taken care of right then and there and that causes alot of stress.

Some doctors may classify these seizures as psychogenic seizures, meaning they look like seizures, but they aren't really caused by abnormal activity in the brain, only in the mind. They could be due to stress or PTSD, etc.

This explains it better: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/seizure_psychogenic
