Question Question about side effects

My mom is taking tablet( Eption 100mg) for epilepsy(2 tablets at night) for 20years. At starting she was taking 3 tabets at night. My question is will taking tablets for epilepsy leads to blood vessels to burst in brain.. I am very scared about this please anybody clear my doubt..

Hi revthy --

I moved your post the The Foyer with its own thread so folks can see it and respond.

Burst blood vessels (aneurysm) is not s known side effect of Epiton (also called Phenytoin). Generally, it's best to check in with you mother's neurologist if you have concerns or questions about any short-term or long-term side effects of the medication.

Has your mother experienced burst blood vessels, or are you just worried that she might get them in the future? Does she have any other health issues aside from epilepsy? Has she experienced any other side effects from the Epiton?

Best,
Nakamova

Revthy,

Not sure if it will help ease your fears but I thought I'd mention that I've been taking Dilantin for over 40 years and have never had problems of that nature. I know there are others here who also have been taking Dilantin for extended periods.
Also, I have a friend who had an aneurysm and as a result had an epileptic seizure. She is taking Dilantin.

I do understand your fears so as Nakamova says, the best thing would be to discuss this with your mom's neurologist.
