Exclamation Seizure in my sleep?

Hi,
I don't really know how to start so ill start here
I am now 15 years old, I had my first seizure at age 12 (generalized epilepsy was diagnosed but no cause was found) and had a couple seizure ever since...
After my first seizure i was put on medication which i hated so i stopped taking it... I managed to stay clear for 11 months after the first seizure.

Ever since i had my second seizure i take my meds twice a day and my mum is serious about it (thank god she wakes me up for them and harrases me till i take them) and i stayed clean for a couple of months. I usually have my seizures when it is energy related aparantly. The day of my first seizure i had burn, and on my previous redbull... I had a couple seizures in these past 3 years. One of them while taking a dump (sorry for being unecessarily graphic). Another one while standing up next to the car before school and i cant think of the others. That was for the backround

Today i was at a friends house for a barbeque and lets say we had a couple glasses of whisky. After eating i had this feeling i never had before, i was so full i just wanted to sleep and felt like i'd explode. I then decided to stay at his home in order to sleep since we are a couple streets away from eachother.

To the seizure now, while i slept i woke up a couple of times when people walked around at night obviously. But the last time i woke up, i felt like my ear became bigger, the same as in an airplane. I got scared because at my previous seizure, (it all started like that at a bar and when i wanted to go to the bathroom i crashed)
I now feel fine, like when i woke up about 30 minutes ago i only had the ear thing. I did a couple of tests, i spoke to myself, normally without stuttering. I also tried walking around, normally. I even had a conversation with my friend's sister. My seizures happen when im awake. This is where the confusing part comes. Nobody heard me with my traditional choking noise i do during my seizures, i was able to speak and walk normally, and i could think straight.

I dont think its because of the whiskey because i lived in ukraine and you know what they say about russia and ukraine with the vodka, been there done that. I know its stupid to drink like that, but hey, a teenager who doesn't drink feela like an outcast and a whuss.

What i dont get is, is it possible i had a nocturnal seizure even though i do them during the day? Or is it just the feeling of i ate too much food which i still feel now.

Ps: I apologize for my spelling but im trying to type fast on m phone to go sleep and it doesnt have spellcheck either

Welcome Hablabla

If you have seizures it is very possible for anything about them to change at any time.

I was born with partial seizures & like you I never had them at night. Eventually I had my first tonic/clonic and then years later started having nocturnal seizures. I don't have them often but it's now no longer unusual for me to have nocturnal ones.

You should mark down when you have seizures-what time & what kind and if anything is different. I usually mark down when I sleep, when/what I eat & anything else I can think of. Maybe someday I'll figure out what triggers them.

Also, I moved your post into the foyer so that you can get the official welcome to the site.

Hi Hablaba, welcome to CWE!

As Eric says, seizures can change overtime, especially if they are uncontrolled. Your seizure threshold can be lowered, and new triggers can set you off. Even if alcohol wasn't a problem in the past, it might be a problem now, especially as your metabolism changes as you age. And there are factors related to drinking (whether alcohol or caffeine/stimulants) -- like fatigue and dehydration -- that can also cause seizures. I know it's tough when you are fifteen, but the healthier and more moderately you can live your overall life, the better it will be for your epilepsy.

I know the medications can be pretty unpleasant, but it is important to take them consistently -- stopping and/or starting too quickly can actually cause seizures. If you feel like the side effects of a medication are intolerable, talk to a doctor about trying something else and tapering down slowwwwwly.

You might want to see an Ear Nose and Throat specialist to make sure there isn't something going on with your ears that may or may not be seizure-related.

Best,
Nakamova

Welcome hababla. I have complex partial seizures and have day and night ones. The morning after I usually have a massive headache and my boyfriend tells me I had one. I generally "feel" like I've had one but the confusing part is that my aura's are so dream-like that I'm never too sure. Also, every time I've had a seizure, i have weird tastebuds after. Maybe it's reading the signs? Soreness, headaches etc?
