Some kind of Seizure?

Hi Everyone! My little girl was diagnosed with Epilepsy a few weeks ago.
The more I read about the different types of seizures the more I wonder if I also had them as a child. I had a number of different unexplained things happen as a child. But I still have some strange things that I thought someone might be able to clarify for me as I can't seem to find information on it on the net anywhere.

I have always had, what I would call and people close to me call 'stares'. More when I am tired and up to 20 a day. I don't remember when they start but are pretty sure they only last 2-10seconds (more the lower side). I will stare straight ahead and relax my body (maybe stop talking, not respond if someone is talking to me, stop doing, chewing, etc), I can feel it in my tummy, forehead and at the back of my eyes. Tense. I can look away after a few seconds but still have the tenseness in my forehead and back of eyes. It's enjoyable and I often take a deep breath afterwards. Sometimes if I try and move my eyes away to come out of it I will have another one not long after as if it wasn't finished.

I have just started acknowledging these and trying to remember what it actually feels like and what I do as I have always just brushed them off.

Can anyone tell me if this is just my body being tired, or something else? I didn't think it seemed serious enough to be a seizure but just wanted to rule that out.

Thanks for your help.

i usually stare when i have a seizure. there is also a strange feeling in my body, like i feel sick, but this only lasts a few seconds. i think you should see a doctor to get a second opinion

Thanks Sonia.g for your quick reply. So can I just have something like this with nothing else? I do feel like a hypochondriac even telling anyone about this.

that is haw mine started, then they became more frequent and i started to feel sick evey time i had a seizure and my family knew i was having one because i would stare and sometime dribble from one side of my mouth. then a few months later at work i started to feel dizzy and then i woke up to a paramedic helping me into a wheelchair to take me to A&E. so i really think it's best for you to see somebody about it as i don't want you to leave it too late like i did

Don't worry about being a hypochondriac. You should see a doctor, since you're worried about it. Good luck

One time, when i was in chuch, sitting with the choit director and friend, i was told i stoped talking and just starting staring ( looking in front of me). They did finally talk me out of it. But i did not hear anybody or anything for a couple of seconds. I did finally sing with the choir that day, but started feeling sick and tired, so had a friend bring me home. Have them every once in a while.

I've had these too, they are kind of euphoric. I don't have any stomach upset luckily.

I can do something odd with my legs, I invision the blood rushing to my feet and I try to keep them as still as possible for as long as I can. I can do it anytime I like, standing up
Or sitting down, but I stare and can't talk well while it's happening. The second i mOve it's over. It feels wonderful, like I'm on some sort of drug. I didn't do that until I'd been on meds for a year. Don't know if it's from epilepsy or from the Lamictal.

Wow CathAnn31, apart from the leg thing, you describe it well. I have never been on medication and have not known myself to have Epilepsy but have these everyday. Yes I thought the moment I move I come out of it (well the great feeling anyway) but often my eyes and my forehead still have that feeling of wanting to go back into it for a while.
I always thought it was my body having a timeout, I think this is what it really feels like, just a break from life. I don't want them to go away really, I would just hate from them to develop into something else.

Nana1, my partner tells me I stop mid sentence sometimes...Usually when I start talking again it's not about the same thing.

Krista2882, not sure if it can be absence seizures. I become aware and know what is happening during this... I thought absence was not being aware.
