Hi Debgra - Welcome to CWE
When you have a minute, why don't you step into the Foyer and give us a brief introduction. We enjoy meeting new people.

I have a daughter with seizures. She is 16 and has had them for two years. They are currently under control due to neurofeedback therapy. She is not taking any meds at the present time. Our diary of NF is linked below.

I have a history of a few posts here Debgra, and I still don't know how to use this site to the max.

Is there anything that you are interested in trying out?
If you go to the menu bar, it pulls up different pages.
The first is a list of the most recent posts, The second is like a floorplan of the house here, the third choice is like the delivery of the newpaper, then you have a page with a control panel. There are a lot of good ways to individualize your presence here at CWE. Then the next page is all the threads that you have commented in. The the search function, the quick links. There you will find the best forum threads. Some of those are the best reading material you will find anywhere these days.

You are doing rather well to have posted AND put up a quote in the same. If there is something more specific that you need help with .. just holler.

Degbra, I'll be happy to answer any questions. Feel free to explore the site - you won't hurt anything. Most functions have redundant links, so it's not as complicated as it may appear. You'll get the hang of it quickly - the learning curve is small.

Hi Debgra - my son is 21 and just started having seizures. He's been in the Navy for 2 years and is now receiving a medical discharge. It's been heartbreaking because being in the Navy is what he has dreamed of since he was 12. This has just been unbelieveable for us. He's 3000 miles away, but will be home in August.

Welcome to CWE! Glad to have you here.
There are quite a few folks here who takes
Keppra and quite a few folks (like myself)
that are "has beens" (that used to be on
Keppra).

Keppra like with any anti-epileptic drugs
is both a wonder drug and a nightmare drug,
but like with any anti-epileptic drugs
it all depends on how the individual reacts
and responds to it as well as the allergic
reaction. Some tolerate it very well, some don't.

As with any anti-epileptic drugs, it
is a trial and error and takes patience to work
and adjust and sort things out to find the right
medication(s), right this and that.

Sometimes - anti-epileptic drugs is not
the option, and video EEG is considered and looked into
and possibility of surgery is of more benefit. There
are also alternative methods - such as Neurofeedback,
and so much more - by browsing around in CWE and
the resources - you'll be able to find a lot of info here!

Welcome to our house

Always glad to welcome another concerned parent on board. I guess my Mom would be a little old for that now (75), but I have had E for almost 27 years starting at age 20, close to your son's current age.

I have been on Dilantin/Phenytek for the entire time. Over 4 years ago Keppra was added and I have had my best seizure control in that entire time. Keppra, like most meds has its drawbacks, but it has been effective for me. I have just started to wean down from 2000 mg a day to 1500 mg.

If you use the search menu at the top of the screen it will show you multiple threads dealing with keppra.
