TexasTravel here...I was referred here on another forum by someone that do not know there name here. Anyway, I have been looking for a forum like this for awhile. Most of the others that I have seen or been a member of just talked about surgeries all of the time and I hope to be able to relate my experiences and the such. My case is because of Hydrocephalus that I have had since I was 16 months old. I am 42 now. Mine is not too bad when compared to alot of people but is still does affect me. I rarely have my seizures when I am awake but they do make me wake up panicking. I am sure that I do not have to explain that to ya'll, whew, as it is hard to explain to people who have not experienced and do not have epilepsy. Anyway, sorry it so long, but I am glad to be here. ![]() |

| I live in the Clute/Lake Jackson area, about 45 miles South of Houston. I saw one member that is from Friendswood. I forget who it was. They only live about 30 miles away from me. I see that Bernard and Stacy live in Friendswood, they are just a short distance away. Last edited by TexasTravel; 02-06-2008 at 06:05 PM. |

| Back off woman! Us Texans don't like round ups unless we're the ones doin' roundin' up. yep. Bernard and I live in Friendswood, in the top 100 places to live in the whole US of A (rated by People magazine... or was it Money?) We love it here. Could you guys give me a little more info on hydroencephalus? I'm wondering if I might have a combination of problems. Is that possible?

| "I have not been around long enough to post links" else I would point you to the site. Look it up in Wikipedia, it has a great explanation. Hydrocephalus is a serious condition, usually caused by something else (chickenpox in my case), that affects the circulation of spinal fluid through is determined path. First one needs to understand that the spine is constantly manufacturing spinal fluid for various functions, one of the most important ones is as a "absorber" to other parts of the brain and the outside world. Kind of a shock absorber. Your brain floats in the fluid. I had a ventricular-atrial shunt installed when I was 16 months old. This kind of shunt installs a "tube" from behind the place that is blocked, usually the lateral ventricles, and reroutes it to the cardial "sack" around the heart. Later, when I was about 7, the doctors started changing it to a ventricular-perotineal shunt which created a route from my lateral ventricles to the perotineal cavity, the one with all of your guts in it. I would guess that not to many people with epilepsy have this condition but some may. There is a very interesting story about how my family started seeing signs of it and the situations that we had with the doctors, in the beginning. If anyone cares to hear it. I will save space in this post so that it does not get too long. |

| TT, go ahead and post the link, but with spaces. Mods will fix the link after verifying it. Sorry for the inconvenience, but there is a reason for it

| Here is a good one for the explanation of Hydrocephalus: http://www.ninds.nih.gov/disorders/h...rocephalus.htm The one in Wikipedia is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocephalus P.S. I have a website, and forum, of my own, so I do understand. Thank goodness mine is not as well known so I do not have too many bad people on it. |
