What is going on!!!

Hey everyone.

I was falling asleep and then as I was dreaming my whole went tight and I couldn't move it. My mind was awake because I was saying to myself move your arms or tongue to get movement. I have had about 8 tonic clonic since last feb and many complex partials since feb last year but with meds I have been able to not have a complex partial for up to 2 months. Also when im about to fall sleep my body or a body part just starts to shake and that wakes me up right before im about to sleep. Any ideas please?

Twitches or muscle tension can be normal when transitioning in and out of sleep. It's called a Hypnic Jerk, or when it becomes problematic it is a sleep disorder called periodic limb movement disorder.

Sleep myoclonus occurs during the initial phases of sleep, especially at the moment of dropping off to sleep. Some forms appear to be stimulus-sensitive. Some persons with sleep myoclonus are rarely troubled by, or need treatment for, the condition. However, myoclonus may be a symptom in more complex and disturbing sleep disorders, such as restless legs syndrome, and may require treatment by a doctor.

Could be epilepsy. Your neurologist can sort it all out for you.

I have

to agree with Endless. In truth, the neurologist will likely order a sleep study done if they think it's needed.

Sleep studies aren't all that bad, just uncomfortable (I've had a few.) I also have the myoclonics, and as long as I take my meds regularly, it's totally under control.

Yes, my myoclonics started in a similar fashion to yours---but I remember being in a dream state, and feeling as if I was falling off a cliff, yet at the same time I thought I could SEE myself doing it inside my head. Anyway, talk to the neurologist. See what they have to say....
