Wish someone would figure this out.

15 year ago I had two seizures I have not had another since that is until Aug of last year. I went to work that morning and with no sign at all had a stroke now I am only 37 but since that day I have had more seizures then I can count. Through all the tests the Dr. still can not find out why its a bit depressing. my wife is always there for me but the last couple have been the worst because my kids have been right there. I have a lot of family around but all they do is drive me crazy because if you listen to them they all act like they know more then the Dr. and think my Dr. is wrong because of something they read on the internet. I am glad I found this sight it would be nice to hear from others that go through with this condition maybe having someone to talk to that has actually been there will help.

I know what you mean about family. They drive me nuts, too.

"why doesn't the doctor try this?"
"are they sure it isn't that?"
"how about this natural remedy? all those drugs can't be good."
"I have a friend with.... and she......"

Thing is, sometimes we DO know better than the docs! Some docs, anyway. That's the beauty of comparing notes in here. It at least gives us good questions to ask our doctors, to help make sure they are covering the bases.

My friend's sister went through this - she suddenly started having blackout seizures when she was in her 60s. It turns out it was linked to some traumatic events in her childhood. And because she had repressed these memories she is now having the seizures. But she was put into longtime care (where she saw a counsellor once a day) and is doing much better.
And yes it's frustrating - our 11 year old daughter has seizures and its so hard to explain to family when she is being aggressive/mood changes on meds. Sigh... just go to be patient with them.

It seems to be the nature of seizure disorders that they defy explanation from time to time. I'm so sorry that you had a relapse out of nowhere after 15 years seizure-free. And that your family is driving you crazy. It is nice that they taking an interest and trying to be helpful though.

I hope get some relief from your seizures (and from your family) soon. Come here and vent anytime!

My moms answer to every thing (she was just here yesterday for easter dinner) just stop taking everything-all those meds cant be good for you they are messing you up-you were never like this before(of course she was never around so you cant tell her how things were before)My mom wants a tangible disease you can fix-heart,diabetes-you get the picture-not something like the brain where you play with all these meds that cause these outlandish side effects!

you just discribed my mother to a tee I also suffer from degenerative disk problems in my lower back and mast of the time I can not walk more then 15 feet without needing to sit down so I am in a wheelchair. I am also on a lot of diferent pain meds to control the pain and make life a bit more livable. she is on me every day to stop taking the pain pills now I hate taking them out of fear of addiction and I will go as long as possable without them but things get bad and thats why the dr gave them to me. she has no idea how bad it is.
