My husband takes Adderall for ADHD. Before he would get bored at his jobs and quit. I am happy to say that since starting treatment for ADHD he has been at his company since 2004 and he likes it a lot and is advancing rapidly!

Within the last 6 months, though, he has be getting horrible headaches and static in his left ear. He went to an ENT and discovered he had 12% hearing loss in that ear. An MRI of his head and IAC was normal and the ENT just said to come back in 3 months for another hearing test.

Our family doctor gave him some samples of migraine medication but he says they did not help.

He doesn't sleep well unless he takes Lunesta.

No clue whether the hearing loss is related to all of the above but I am sure the Adderall and the lack of sleep and the headaches are all related. I think he needs to see a neurologist but he doesn't think he needs to because his MRI was normal. I told him our family doctor wouldn't be able to do anything else for him and would only recommend he see a neurologist who specializes in migraines. I don't understand his aversion to going to a specialist when he has these headaches every day!

Hi Kendra! Right now, I'm suffering from hearing loss in both ears. I woke up on the 1st of May not able to hear anything...not even my own voice. The prednisone that the doc prescribed didn't really help, so the doc (ENT) ran MRI and blood work. (believe it or not, viruses can cause hearing loss) In my case, my hearing loss is due to an over active immune system. *shrug* I knew I was tough, but jeesh! However, I have had some improvement in my hearing....I've been taking Niacin (it's a vasodialator) and B-12 supplements. The ENT didn't see any improvement till after I started taking the vitamins, so he said to keep taking them. The thing is, does the doc know WHY your hubby has diminished hearing? That can help the doc know whether his hearing will improve. Also....believe it or not, Magnesium is also supposed to help people with hearing loss, though usually it's treated with Gingko. The Magnesium might help his sleep and migraines too. Just a thought.

I guess his syptoms correlate with an accoustic neuroma but the MRi should have diagnosed that and it was negative. I guess they want him to come back in 3 months to see if the hearing loss gets worse.
