Bad News

My husband got a call from his step-mother tonight that his dad's cancer has now gone to his brain. He is in the hospital with a moraphine drip to keep him comfortable. This now explains the hallucinations that he has been having when he is awake. We are praying that he goes quickly to end his suffering.

I am so sorry, Tina. I lost my grandfather to bone cancer less than a month ago and I hope that his suffering is as short as possible for all of you. I will be thinking of you and your family and praying for your father-in-law and all of you as well. (((HUGS)))

Hello Tinasmom-
I am very sorry to hear about your sadness. I hope that eveything will go as you wish. We will pray for you and your family. Rachel (also CWE member) and my Twin who also has epilepsy have all read your story and want you to know we are sad by the news.
We are all here for you and thinking of your family.
God bless you.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. My husband is not handling this very well at all. His dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer about 4 years ago and many times was suppose to be gone. I think the hardest thing is watching someone not know what is or has gone on around them and seeing things that are not there. Losing a parent at a young age is very hard. I lost my mom when she was 56 and it was so hard to know that she was no longer physically here.

I'm so sorry. My grandmother was diagnosed not too long ago with renal cancer. It's supposed to start in the kidneys and then spread to the lungs and then spread to the brain. It's already spread to the lungs and she has not been her usual self, and I am afraid that she won't last much longer. She won't know if the medication is working for another month and she has been very weak. She is normally bouncy and all over the place. She's 85 and has not been sick and usually helps take care of people much younger than her, but this hit her so hard. She is such a good woman, and I didn't realize until about a year ago how much she loved me and spoiled me, more than her other 9 grandkids. I hope she gets better, but I'm not going to be naive. I am sorry and give my condolences. It's just so hard with things like that.

Hi Tina, I'm sorry to hear your situation. Ours is actually quite similar at the moment. My husband is about to lose his father, also to bladder cancer. He is in hospital at the moment and the drs say it could be a matter of days. Worst thing for my husband is that we live so far away and he can't be there. We spent Christmas with them so that was good but still, it would be good for him to spend as much time as he can with him now. Here's hoping they don't suffer too long.

Laura,

My thoughts will be with you during this time. So much stress for all of you. Please take care of yourself so you can be there for your husband.

Give him a gentle pat on the shoulder and let him know that we are all thinking of him.

Laura, my prayers are with you and your family. I lost my father to skin cancer several years ago. The hardest days were the last week, when he had no idea who we were, and then slipped away. Losing a parent is never easy...
