Casual workLast week my employment consultant rang me to let me know she may have 2 weeks paid casual work at a chiropractors. She said at this stage it's only 2 weeks but she might be able to get me some part time work later on. I heard from the chiropractor this Monday & he explained to me that his receptionist was going away for 2 weeks & he needed someone to do basic front desk reception duties while she was away. I was interested in the work so arranged to meet the employer the next day. On Tuesday I went to the chiropractors & met him & his receptionist. It seemed like a good working environment with no stress & I think I will be able to do the work fine. I start next Wednesday but won't have to go in next thurs,Frid, Sat as the chiropractor will be away. I will go in again Mon 3 Nov - Fri 14 Nov. I am going to go in next Tuesday to spend some more time working with the receptionist learning how to do things. I usualy take partial seizures or auras. My epilepsy is currently under control & the last seizure I took was a partial seizure in July. I am open about my epilepsy but always wonder when is the right time to tell employers about my epilepsy. I was thinking that as the work is only for 2 weeks then I won't mention my epilepsy yet & see how I go. If I go well after the 2 weeks & get offered more work then I will mention my epilepsy. Just wondering if that will be ok or if I should mention my epilepsy Tuesday when I go in? Last edited by CQ:); 10-22-2008 at 07:56 PM. |
