Thumbs up Coffee time.

It's coffee time again!!! Anyone up for a good hot cup of coffee? How do you drink your coffee? With cream and sugar or without. I drink mine black and strong. The stronger the better. I hope everyone is having a good day.

I would love a cup, thanks! I like Decaf hazelnut with milk or creamer.
I don't drink it all the time though. More in the fall and winter, but an occasional cup here or there. I think tonight we will with our homemade peach pie! I also like decaf tea each morning in the cold weather.

Me to Forward. They are building one 10 steps away from my home. And I think there are 3 within walking range from my house. One that they call a titty coffee house. Where they wear stickers instead of clothes. The communities are trying to change it because of kids.As long as I get my 6shot Iced americano no water.

I agree Hawke. I would be complaining loudly.

I like Starbucks, Grande Non-fat Latte, but I have not been going there so often.
Do you know that coffee is more expensive than gas per gallon?
I have been starting a savings account with the money that I use to spend there. My coffee is just as good. It is a drip coffee with a hint of Vanilla, and.... I have to have, half and half. (say that ten times fast)

Rebecca had her first seizure after a Vanilla Frap from Starbucks... so those drinks are evil to me. They do have MSG in them too.

It's very sweet with lot's of chocolate (at least the Mocha one is). It has a good amount of caffeine too.

There's MSG in Fraps? Really? I thought the Vanilla ones didn't have caffeine? I can have one with caffeine in the mourning and I'm OK.

The one I wrote about was her first one, two years ago June 23.
Guess we have a non-celebration coming up, in a few days.

I went online and looked at the ingredients.
They don't tell you it is MSG, but one of the 30-40 different names, such a flavoring, or caramel, or citric acid.
The other thing all of us with neurologist issues need to watch is HFCS - High Fructose Corn Syrup. Not good....

No Starbucks here in Nowhere's Ville (yet!), but we do have a cute little coffee shop in the "downtown" historic district. They just opened last year, and seem to be doing well, but, unfortunately, their coffee tastes like - has a charred flavor. They do make decent smoothies, though, and we sometimes go for an after-library treat.

I prefer to get my latte fix with my el-cheapo espresso machine (a christmas gift from my hubby two years ago), and good quality coffee pods. Maybe not gourmet quality, but better than the ash-flavored slop the coffee shop serves!

Hi Lynn,
The small, charming little places are my favorite. Too bad your coffee isn't too great at your place. I just find the small town feel so nice and relaxing. We have a little restaurant that is great. It's in an old home. It actually burned down a few yrs. ago and they rebuilt it exactly the way it was originally. They have great, southern "real" food. Homemade stuff! They serve breakfast, lunch and I think dinner. We love it..especially whe it is cold out. SO cozy! Sometimes I do enjoy the hustle and bustle though.

Michelle

Citric acid is an MSG??? Learn something new everyday, I guess.

We have a nice little coffee and book shop here in town. I don't get any of the fancy drinks, but do try a lot of different blends. They have one called Highlander Grog that I enjoy and it is different than anything I have had anywhere else. And they have their clothes on!

At home, I will put some cinnamon in the bottom of my drip coffee maker (NOTE: NOT in the filter - it will CLOG). This sends the aroma though the house. Great for weekends. Otherwise, always black.

Yup... when it is made from corn, which these days it most likely is.

The food ingredient "citric acid" provides us with a good example of why MSG-sensitive people with little tolerance are having difficulty staying well. Many people believe that "citric acid" comes from citrus fruits, and since most people can tolerate citrus fruits, "citric acid" should not be a problem. However, most of the "citric acid" used today is made from corn rather than from citrus fruits. The Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM) is a major producer of "citric acid."
