Question Do You Ever Feel This Way?

You Move From One State To Another & You Know Nobody But Your New Doctor & Neroligist . But Yet After A Couple Months You Never Meet Anyone Even When You Go Out For Groceries? Reason I'm Asking Is I Left One State & Moved To Kentucky & still yet after a year I haven't made any NEW friends. Is there something wrong or am I not looking in the right places to meet people? There's No Local Church Around My Area So Church Services Are Out. Any Other Idea's , I'm open to sugguestions PLEASE Thank You DAVE from Kentucky

I've lived here in Victoria for 4 years & it's only been in the last year or so that I've been making friends. I wasn't happy not knowing anyone but this place does have a reputation for people being very closed & cliquish so I knew it wasn't me.

Dave - I have suggested this before. You have to work at it.
Take a look at this site. I don't know your zip code, and I don't know your interests. Yet, I just put in a random zip, and interest as "friends" and quite a few meet ups are listed. Try it. I have found some of the groups to be quite interesting in my area.

Any coffee shops or local diners where people just congregate? Have you tried saying hi to your neighbors? Do you have any hobbies? If so, you might find a group of people who like doing the same thing....If you have a yard, you might want to try some gardening, and then asking the neighbors about certain plants in their yards taht you like, or you could start chatting up the people at the local lawn supply place.check out the library...Hmmm...but if you're living in that rural a place, I'm betting that the local diner or feed and seed are your best bets.

I have severe anxiety disorder, and I sometimes would rather be under a rock then talk to someone I do know, so I would expect the same from strangers. This is why I have moved in with my brother, so as I am not alone, and have company and someone is available to drive me places. Sure beats sitting at my old apartment alone.

I have a good social manner. Maybe just try and go up to a coffee shop, sit down and pretend you are about to read a book or something and just start talking.I have met a lot of people that way. Some think I am crazy some think I'm net working. But all in all it makes for a better day.
