Education.

Each state has its own education level. When I lived in Texas I was in special education. Then when I moved to Oklahoma I was in regular classes. Oklahoma's education level is two years behind Texas. I don't know how it is now. I have been out of school for over twenty years. If your child is in special ed. and you want your child to stay in special ed. Check in to the state's education level. Some states are higher, some states are lower. I hope this information is helpful. I hope everyone has a good day.

An embarassment for Ohio.

This does not deal with special education. Ohio is pretty good with that section.

However, several years ago, the uneducated politicians came up with guidelines called the "Freshman Proficiency Tests". You could start taking these tests twice a year beginning in 9th grade and could not recieve a diploma after 12th grade unless you could pass the 9th grade level. Once you passed a section, you never had to take it again.

There are several other graduation requirements that all make sense. But the idea that you only need to exhibit freshman level skills to graduate is ridiculus and made us the joke of the mid-west for quite some time.

Note: The vast majority of students pass these very quickly and receive good educations. It is just the stupid message that it sent to everyone and the LOW EXPECTATIONS that it set. This test has recently been moved up to the 10th grade level now.
