And remember, shy personalities are good. There is a little girl that lives in our apt. building. She has taken a long time for me to get to know. But the caring now has built up for her. I care for her deeply and see what a bright and loving child she really is.

I have such a hard time finding and keeing friends because I am always confined to this apt. each and everyday. So the only time I can get out is the weekends and that's not very long. I have tried to make friends and they seem really nice and interested but they never come over or cal and hurts akot.

I know what it's like to live in an apartment. They're noisy, small and makes a person feel like their confined in a small place. I'm glad I decided to buy a house. I don't miss those apartments. I don't have to worry about neighbors if I invited some friends over to my house. I have an idea what you're going through David. Don't let it bother you too much. I hope you have a good day.

David,
Are there any groups through your church or community to meet people or with similar interests. I know our church has alot. Maybe one that could even pick you up or help out. You might check that out. Don't forget you have all of your friends here!! : ))))))))))))))))

I take it all for granted David. I can not even imagine how being shut in would feel.
Are you able to grow plants where you live? They are not sociable, but can give one a lot of pleasure. At least for me they do. When my dad was in a wheelchair, he had some planter boxes built at the height of the chair so he could tend the roses, and flowers. It gave him a lot of joy.

This is just an idea

I can imagine what it feels like to be shut in. I feel like that a lot. Sometimes I don't want to leave my house and face the world. I don't know if any of you knows what that feels like. Sometimes I don't leave my house several days at time. Sometimes I don't think people would accept me for you I am. That's I feel at times. I don't any of you feel that way.

However it is your world too Hawke, and you should be enjoying it.
Go enjoy it, because others can't.

You don't know how to enjoy your world?
Can you go out for a short little walk?
Can you go out and look at the moon tonight? It is really beautiful.
Can you go play fetch with your dog?
Can you go talk with one neighbor that you don't usually say Hi to?
Or ask someone over for coffee?

Sometimes when we smile it makes us feel better all the way through. It also makes the people we come in contact with willing to approach us.

Try it sometime. You might not feel like it, but sometimes we have to do things we dont' feel like doing. If you do something nice, then you might not feel depressed. Sometimes, not always... it is a choice of how we feel.

So go outside in a bit and look at the moon. I think it was just a full one yesterday.... maybe the day before.
If someone walks by,.... say "Pretty moon isn't it?"

Look at the moon

Hawke - Try what Robin said about the moon. Go out and look at it for awhile. It is a good chance that someone else here at CWE may also be looking at it at the same time. Just think about that while you look at the moon and smile.

David - If your apartment and health allows it, growing even a little plant or flower is neat and relaxing. To see the changes it makes each day. If you can cook, having a small planter with herbs would be enjoyable. You could add a little to your meal and enjoy the fact that it was something you accomplished.

Those are some great ideas..I also find just sitting outside for a while makes me feel good. I know it can get hot..especially where you are Hawke. But maybe early morning or evening. I hear the birds and see the butterflies and trees and all the sounds of crickets and the feel of a breeze. Or imagine a beach or the mountains somewhere and what you would do. Let your mind wander....

hawke : you've got loads of friends buddy.....I'm one off 'em, hopefully

I'm not very good either at approaching people, but I joined a gym years ago and find that the best way is to just smile at people (not grin - they'll punch you if you grin at 'em - just a nice li'l smile). You tend to find that people remember a happy face, and maybe, even maybe, THEY'll approach YOU.

The more you practice, the more confident you will become. Easy to say, but Hard to do....I know. Just stick two fingers up at the world and say "Hey, here I am".....they can either accept you, or not.....that's there problem if they won't.

To ALL my new friends at CWE - it is good to know I have a friend

This could be posted in Speber's Auditorium because it always makes me feel so good. But tonight, I think it belongs right here in a Friendship thread.

To my friends, a little gift from James Taylor and writer/pianist Carole King. Wow, what a pair of musicians.
