Giving Thanks

GIVING THANKS

We are to give thanks once more,
so let us not forget our poor
and our proud soldiers in this ruthless war,
Let us give thanks for....

Our sickness and our health,
America's over-abundance and our great wealth,
Thanks for revealing our stealth
as we continue to strengthen ourselves.

And to my precious family and friends,
may the fences we mend,
for only good wishes I send
and Thanks to you once again.

And a special thanks to Bernard for starting this website!

Sometimes it is easy to feel sorry for ourselves, but when you take a day to really think all you have to be thankful for and think of others that are in very different circumstances.....you can realize there are many blessings in our lives. Bernard starting this site is a big blessing in my life!
Everyone should keep the soldiers and their families in their thoughts and prayers.

I created this site, but you all make it what it is. I thank you all for making all the effort worthwhile.

To the Caretakers

I think we should all give thanks to those who are the caretakers. I think it is they who are sometimes the forgotten ones. The focus is always on the E patient and it's not always easy being the caretaker. I think about my husband and how he's turned into a light sleeper, the fact that I don't drive and if we need milk he's the one always running or how he's the one that catches triggers. This is a job that they don't HAVE to do, but "choose" to do.

Also, thanks to Bernard and the many moderators on this board and everyone else that participates. Since joining, which is fairly recent, I've learned more about E than I have in all the years with it. I'm very thankful for finding this site and I wish everyone, whether you or a loved one, the best of health. Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

Isn't that what family and friends are for, being caretakers, given the circumstances? That's why I included family and friends in my poem.
My ex was very seldom there when I needed help, only my children. And I lived 1500 miles from any family at the time of brain surgery.

Happy Thanksgiving down there! We may have had ours a month ago, but it's never the wrong time to show gratitude

Thank you for starting the site Bernard, and for everyone else making it what it is. You've shown me how to be a better support person, and have been invaluable for information and research for my partner and I.

You've definitely made our journey much easier.

All my family has died off so I am the matriarch now. It's been a very rough year with the loss of my 3 closest and dearest friends. But this Thanksgiving, my home was bursting at the seams with the family I have adopted. Sometimes we create our own families and they turn out better and more loving than the blood families we have no choice about. I was blessed and very thankful to have those I love the most surrounding me and gobbling up my 27 pound turkey. All the effort, work and love was well worth it. I hope that everyone here could someday have a day like this one was.
