Going to Washington D.C.

Hello everyone- I thought I would let everyone know that I will be leaving soon to fly to Washington D.C. to represent Texas and our deaf-blind community. I have been deaf-blind for most of my life and as a young adult I was asked by the Helen Keller Center for the Blind, it's staff, and many other mentors and instructors to attend a training at Gallaudet University for the Deaf. I will be speaking with Senators for our state, the President's staff and meet the President. I will be speaking or discussing my policy issue of SSPs or support service providers for deaf-blind. They help us out so much and there needs to be more funding for programs around the U.S. Texas and three other states are the only ones with funding to start pilot programs for the deaf-blind.
Anyways- on an note of E (epilepsy) I had to share with a few of the main people about my seizures and what to do- I found out that most of them have already worked with clients that are deaf-blind and have epilepsy. SO it will be a good time to discuss it with some of the newer mentors and staff there at Gallaudet. I think it is important for me to also talk about my Epilepsy and do some education while there to those I think who would need to know. I felt sort of embarrassed to let the instructor know about it but I'm glad I did- she knows about it but I think I will share some more information with her since complex partial seizures are not the same and GMs etc.

Thank you everyone! I will be thinking abotu everyone and my family and hope everything goes well. I will be leavning in about 7 hours from now just about. So I will write back when I get home in a week.
