Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those living in hurricane alley.

I think I'll stick to the northeast, where hurricane means that the sky turns purple and the trees lose half of their limbs.

The Dreaded Keppra!!

Hi Dain

I just sat and typed you out a really long Private Message, went to post it, and it said that you don't accept Private Messages, let me know if this changes, as I wanted to ask you something private about the Keppra. I hope to hear from you soon.
Cheers

Elaine

My brother lives right outside Bolixi Miss. He plans on staying in his house but he's at the 24 ft level so even if the surge is 20 ft he should be ok.

The levees in New Orlenes were "repaired" but only to withstand a Cat 3 hurricane. A surge of 20 ft is expected, he says it will wipe out the city! I am so worried about him. But he really can't leave, all the roads are clogged with traffic!

Arrow Gus -vs.- Cycling - Not Recommended!

Well we have GUS's tail on our ends here ...
Rain, Wind, and Lightning!

Even worse, needing to go to the store; and
having no one to take us there, my son and
I were going to go by ourselves, but my son's
girlfriend wanted to go with us, so out came
my old Panasonic racing bike (late 70s) and she
was so positive she could handle it!

::: rolls eyes :::

Yeah right!

We ended up being drowned rats! Not to mention
having to stop in Bus Stop Sheds because of
lightning. And the Winds? Oh my! My old Kronos,
which I gave my son, is lightweight (27 speed),
and my Trek is even lighter (carbon - 27 speed)
and we were swerving every time big gusts of
winds were blowing. It was 100% pure insanity!

I should have taken photos, but I'm slightly irked
at my son because he took all the batteries that
were supposed to be for my diggy camera and
used it for the "remotes" for the televisions ...
"MEN!"

(Now don't start with me boys!)

Then power outages - I couldn't and by that time
it was too dark, hopefully I can catch some of GUS
for the album tomorrow AM. He'll be here, unfortunately!

And then we have Hanna to be worked up on. My son
just told me once we get a break, to start on taking
some of these things apart and store in shed.

We are in the PEAK SEASON of Hurricanes anyway,
so this is a normal cycle, nothing unusual.

We lucked out down here, most of the nasty feeder bands stayed north of us by Tampa, and south of us by Naples. We got a little rain and wind, but nothing bad enough to talk about. Of course, Hannah hasn't made it here yet....

The MAP posted first is a
LIVE MAP ... so it updates
accordingly ... so coming back
here and taking a peek at it
often will give you a clue. I will
be posting more maps later
on ...

But poor Naw'lins (New Orleans).

You can go to TampaBay's 10 to
get updates and even VIEW a video of
Gustav ... as well as seeing what
Gus did here and everywhere else.

Then the news on Hanna ...

I have a great Aunt who lives in Biolxi Miss I just called her yesterday and told her that she needed to get out there. She mentioned yesterday that she was going to stay. I told her she needs to take that Hurricane serious. I hope she got out.

Go to Tampa Bay's 10 link below, 'Gus' has weakened,
read up on him ...

PS: The levees are all holding up in Naw'lins too!

Unhappy

we may get some of hanna up here. I hope just the rain and winds from it. I hope nothing else. We have been getting hit with alot of rain up in massachusetts. I feel bad for people in new orleans. It like you get over one and jump back in to the frying pan.

It figures ... the southwest finally gets the much needed rain and it comes in the form of Hanna and possibly Ike.

One bright spot is that it looks like New Orleans learned some valuable lessons and took this one seriously. Complacency is a hard battle to win. Looks like they may have done pretty well so far.

God Bless all.

Where I live, it looks like Hannah will be close and alot of rain which is nothing new. I wish this would stop. But this is what happens when you live in Florida. Everyone that lives in Florida, Goodluck with the storms. Be safe. Thanks for the map Brain.
