Kids say the funniest things

So last night, I pick my son up to go to his neurofeedback appointment. While we were driving, I started giving him the rules that he must obey while we are on our cruise (leaving tomorrow! ). I told him that he will not be staying up until all hours of the night as we have things planned during the day and I'd like him to get up sometime before noon! So, he asked me if he could stay up until 10 p.m. and I said that was perfectly fine. He was very happy with this time even though he stays up until 10 on a regular basis on weekends at home. I told him that I thought he would try to negotiate staying up until 12 or 1, and he says, "MOM! I have a seizure disorder! I need my sleep!"

I couldn't help but laugh. It seems that some things I say (nag) to him actually get through.

That's so sweet!

Have a great cruise by the way. Given the heat wave we've got going, it's a great time to get away...

my cousin is 6, when she was 3 she was obsessed with trying to go on the top bunk of my bunk bed. one day i told her she couldn't, so she flopped over on the bottom bunk, closed her eyes, and stuck out her tongue. i asked her what she was doing.
"i died"
"you died?"
"yeah, and you have to put me up there *pointing to top bunk* so i can go to heaven!"

i then told her that no, to get to heaven i'd have to put her on the roof. she "came back to life" pretty quickly

another time, she came to me with a candy bar and asked me to open it. i was busy trying to put the blinds back on my window (which she knocked down ) so i said to go ask Uncle Mike (my dad)
"i can't"
"why not?"
"because Uncle Mike said no i can't have it!"

this year, i took an early childhood education course, and we ran the day care in my high school 3 days a week. one day, we had a little boy go to the bathroom, only to walk out 2 seconds later with his pants down around his ankles, to announce to everyone "LOOK! i have on superhero underwears today!" too cute!

My grandson was going to spend the night at our house last weekend. He was so excited and couldn't wait. His Mom told him in the morning that he would go after his afternoon nap which was after lunch.

At 9:30 in the morning he announced it was lunch time so he could get that nap started and head to grandma and papa's house.

My 6 year old great niece was walking with her dad and 3 year old sister. She saw a caterpillar and wanted to take it home. Her dad took the time to explain how if they left it alone, it would make a cocoon and turn into a butterfly. After all the explanation, the 6 year old agreed that they should leave it alone.

Then the 3 year old walked up, stomped on it, and declared. "I GOT IT"

When my cousin was about 3 years old, his whole family was down with the flu. He heard his mom constantly talking about the "flu bug."

My aunt was downstairs and suddenly heard my cousin upstairs screaming. She ran upstairs as fast as she could. My cousin was in the bathroom pointing at a big insect on the wall. He screamed, "Mommy! Mommy! I found the flu bug!"

He's an adult with his own children now, and he's never lived this one down.
