My Wrist Surgery Is Tomorrow

My wrist surgery was originally scheduled for last Friday, but I got a call from my nurse a few days before and it was being postponed to Wednesday the 12th.. so.. tomorrow it is.

For those of you who don't know what is going on, I broke my wrist last March (my first ever seizure injury)) and then after the cast came off I was still in a lot of pain. The doctor finally did a scan and found out I had torn something as well and it wasn't healing. He said we would give it some time to heal and it should heal on it's own..

Well, it didn't heal, and in the process, another fracture showed up on an xray on my wrist. We aren't sure what caused this one, but with the icky state my wrist is in it's not unlikely that I fractured it along the way!

Anyway, I'm still in good spirits. Ready for tomorrow! I've seen several doctors at Tri-State Orthopedics Surgeons since my car accident (they switch me around because sometimes I'll need a specialist..) and for my wrist I ended up going from a regular Ortho to Dr. Johnson, who is a Hand and Microsurgery specialist.) I feel really confident that he will do his best and that everything will be okay after tomorrow. = )

I have to be at the hospital at 1:30 in the afternoon.. then go into surgery at 3:30. I shouldn't have to stay overnight but with my other medical problems we can't ever promise I'll be home that night.

I'm sure everything will be fine though! This is a super minor surgery and honestly the only thing I'm upset about is the fact that I'll be away from my beloved internet, hehe, and of course I will miss normal showers.. but soon enough I'll be back to normal. (err normal as this Kate ever is.)

I've been trying to deal with my depression a lot lately, and really the only place I ever share how down I am is here.. and I want you all to know I'm doing a lot better. I'm a little surprised that I'm not that down about tomorrow. I'm actually a little relieved that all the stuff with my wrist is going to be getting better.

surgery went much better than expected. i actually already got out of the bulky dressing i was in after surgery and am already into a splint that they molded to me at physical therapy today. i got to see my wrist and it only has three tiny stitches, not bad at all.

it turns out it didnt need any hardware. so its only going to take 6 weeks to heal and im good to go. im also also allowed to do light typing, woohoo, and im doing just fine at it. obviously cant do much caps hehe but still trying to do my best. im supposed to move my fingers as much as i can every day.

thanks for all the support. it looks like this surgery went really well for me and with all the inflamation the doctor scraped out i will be in a lot less pain in the future!

hehe, oh and buckeye, i had a choice on the color of splint.. but they only have white or light blue, hehehe, so i have light blue. but the color is reping cwe all the way. too bad it doesnt have a logo. lol. it matches the pages perfectly! ill take a pic of it here in a sec.

im proud of myself for being able to do a thumbs up! its kinda an odd stretch but its good for me.

soo heres the regular splint with my arm all stretched out

and heres to the wonderful CWE!! sorry its a lil dark!

my arm looks rather chubby in this. hehehe. my pain medicine is making me quite silly. i apologize!

That's our Kate - always fashionable. Though I never heard of matching web-sites as accessories before. Glad I learned this with Christmas coming and 5 ladies in my family.
