Love it - will use it on my vegetarian daughter.

THERE IS A PROPER TIMING FOR EVERY ACTION, AND THE
SUCCESS OF ACTION HANGS ON THAT TIMING. CHANGE IS MOST
OFTEN A GRADUAL PROGRESSION, NOT A SUDDEN UPHEAVAL.
ONE SHOULD NOTE THE MANNER IN WHICH THE SEASONS
PROGRESS, AND PATIENTLY BUILD TOWARD THE DESIRED
TRANSFORMATION. ACHIEVED IN THIS WAY, THE CHANGE
OCCURS NATURALLY, AND GAINS SUPPORT FROM OTHERS.

I focus on amassing quotes from writers and from the American Indians as well. I have great compassion and respect for them as a people. Their wisdom is spoken plainly but powerfully. This is one of my favorite prayers.

Earth, Teach Me

Earth teach me quiet ~ as the grasses are still with new light.
Earth teach me suffering ~ as old stones suffer with memory.
Earth teach me humility ~ as blossoms are humble with beginning.
Earth teach me caring ~ as mothers nurture their young.
Earth teach me courage ~ as the tree that stands alone.
Earth teach me limitation ~ as the ant that crawls on the ground.
Earth teach me freedom ~ as the eagle that soars in the sky.
Earth teach me acceptance ~ as the leaves that die each fall.
Earth teach me renewal ~ as the seed that rises in the spring.
Earth teach me to forget myself ~ as melted snow forgets its life.
Earth teach me to remember kindness ~ as dry fields weep with rain.

An Ute Prayer

Dreaming when Dawn's Left Hand was in the sky,
I heard a voice within the Tavern cry,
'Awake my Little ones, and fill the Cup
Before Life's Liquor in it's Cup be dry.'

For Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam translation Edward Fitzgerald
