Sometimes God really does give you what you need

Soooo, about 6 weeks ago my family found out that my husband is deploying (he left 3 days ago). We also pre-registered my daughter for school next year. She is starting the K-4 program at a private school. We found out that her new school does not have a summer program like her current school has. We also found out that her current school (a day care really) will not let her stay through the summer until her new school starts because the school year they go by is from beginning to beginning of summer.

Basically what it came down to, is me working a full time job, my husband deploying for 4 months, and our daughter with no one to watch her for the summer. We started looking at home care providers and other day cares. After about 2 weeks of basically exhausting all our choices (some of the day cares would have worked but they were dirty or uncontrolled. A workable last resort, but not the ideal choices.) I spoke to my mom about the situation. We also talked about the rest of my family.

Turns out, my sister was having some financial issues in her family. Her boyfriend's unemployment was running out and he could not find a job (not for lack of looking), and their lease was ending on their apartment. Just so happens that their lease ends one week after my husband deployed and they need a place to stay and I need someone to stay with me.

They will be here on the 27th and the 28th is my daughters last day of school. It could not have worked out better for either of our families. There are so many more job opportunities where I live and my sisters boyfriend already has 5 hopeful employers already lined up. My daughter does not have to be looked after by strangers. I am able to work without having the added stress of whether or not my daughter is ok. My sister can focus on taking care of her daughter and mine and not have to worry about trying to make ends meet month to month. (she was going to have to put her daughter in day care and work crazy hours just to make a difference, if she was even able to find a job where they live).

Either way, I thank God for helping us out. Even though my husband is deployed and that is kind of hard to deal with, I feel that God has blessed our families and He really is watching out for us.

My daughter is 4 and my neice is 18 months. At that age its a pretty big age difference, but my daughter loves smaller kids and has been bugging me for about a year for a little sister. My daughter is really excited for her cousin baby Celeste to come stay (thats what she is telling all of her friends at school). I'm excited for the help. For anyone out there who has done it before you have my respect, because being a working single parent is HARD! I'm also excited my sisters family gets this opportunity for help. Work is hard to come by in most areas and its just one more blessing in the whole thing that there is a lot of available work here for them.

Thumbs up

Hi Alicia,

Great to read such great news. Very happy that your stress has been lowered and that your sister is able to look after your precious daughter and hers as well. Looks like it working out well for every one involved - as your sister and her hubby are now able to reduce their stress too - and since you mentioned that there is a greater availability of jobs available they could find suitable employment.

Yes, it does look like God has been looking done on all of you. That must be the reason why any of the day care or home care services you looked wasn't suitable because God had something much better in mind for all of you!!!

Susan

Thanks everybody. They will be here tomorrow. I can't wait and my daughter is super excited also. She has been going through her toys to find all the small ones to put away because "Baby Celeste will put them in her mouth and choke and it will go in her tummy and she will be sick". I love my daughter so much. She is so thoughtful and caring.

The past few days have been a little strange. It's really quiet even with a 4 year old. I miss my hubby and my daughter asks about him a lot. Both my husband and I have been in the military a long time (12 years for me and 17 for him) and we have been deployed a lot. When we were stationed in AK, out of the first year we spent a total of 90 days together at home. The rest of the time one or both of us were deployed. I can't say that I am used to being seperated from him, but the goodbye's are easier to handle. I haven't cried at our goodbye's for many many years. This one was way different. My daughter and I were driving away from base after dropping him off and my daughter started crying this horrible sad sniffle cry that would tear anyones heart in two. I asked her if she was ok and she said she didn't want Daddy to leave because who would play the Taylor Daddy games with her. It tore me apart to hear and see her so sad. I had to pull over because my tears wouldn't stop. When we got home I got her ready for bed and we cuddled and watched some cartoons then she went to bed with me. I needed that as much as she did. She is doing a lot better now. I can tell she is feeling something isn't quite right because of how she is acting, but overall she is doing well. She gets excited everytime something happens because she wants to tell Daddy all about it. I know the next few months will be hard for her even though we will have family staying with us, but I really believe even as young as she is that this experience will make her a stronger person. God doesn't throw anything at us, even the little ones, that He doesn't believe we can't handle. We just have to believe in Him and, through Him, ourselves enough and we can get through anything.

God bless you all with realatives serving, having them away from home, may they come home safe. My 21yr. old son joined the navy and was overseas for 4 years. Thank God he came home safely, went back to college and is now 27. We just found out two days ago he just got engaged.

Fortunatley we knew her. They have been seeing others for quite a while so this is no surprise.

The challenge now is my son will become an instant father of her 4yr. old.son. He's loving and compassionate and a good role model besides. When it come to disipline my son was in karate and it's ternaments since age five. He was so good we have shelves of trophies. Watch out Jaydan. HA. HA.
